@hy-oestrus
It has some swearing, but what I mean is that it's more mature. Kids would probably find it boring. If you haven't watched all of the original you wouldn't get as much out of the show.

@firestonetv It's not really... Swearing. They say "god damn" like once, and "hella" a couple times. And i think a swan flips someone off.

Ok, just finished season 1. So glad there will be more! Hope they dont cancel it or something stupid. This was so great! The color palette and art choices were beautiful. Overall really enjoyed the story and more grown up version of the show I grew up with, the fact its a continuation of sorts makes it even better. There were a few disappointing things, having to do with voices, and honestly while I understand Prismo being a main character in this story, it wasn't an option... i guess. they could have left Lemongrab out.

I enjoyed the Winter King episode, and Princess Bubblegum's song in that - it made me laugh out loud. The entire scene where they are kidnapped and she's going to "bake them with love". It was one of my favorites in the whole show.

The characters in their different universes and their alters were also a lot of fun to see, and there was a lot of creativity in that.

I am also a fan of the opening song in episode 1.

Haven't finished, but... Why is Prismo not Kumail? :sob: he was my favorite and it's so bizarre and disappointing - and I love Kumail

I thought Distant Lands was underwhelming but compared to that this sucked really. Then again I didn't remember Beth merging/turning into GOLB (or whatever) or much of Simon's and Beth's history. So I didn't care much about it.

I never thought the overarching plots was what made Adventure Time great, as they spread them out too much over the seasons. It's not like you easily can rewatch the overarching plots in S1-7. It was much better when they had several of them after each other.

What made AD great were telling a good story in 11 min, like the train going in a circle.

@zuretear there were a lot of things that made Adventure Time great. There were different episodes for everyone. If you dont like this storyline, that's ok, it might just not be for you, and yeah, not remembering what happened during the final season & the last episode might be a problem, but overall, it's not all that important. For the most part it's not even about that. Until the end of S1 of this. Most of this is about F&C, and the multiverse, with Simon, since the Fionna & Cake story is something he was supposed to have created.

Honestly if you didn't care for the overarching plots, it's a little surprising you would even bother with this show or Distant Lands, since that was kind of the point :person_shrugging:♂

I really great show that expands upon the greater Adventure Time multiverse. I do think the ending could have been a little more spectacular, but it was still a good ending with all the conflicts being resolved. Hopefully, the creators will keep writing Adventure Time stories.

_Adventure Time: Fiona and Cake_ feels like fanfiction. A matter which in of itself is quite meta. The show has its highs, but its lows are far more memorable. The call backs were fun and the lore building was rewarding. Yet, the character development felt hamfisted and the Easter eggs and monologuing are exhausting. Old faces are back but they feel like different people to the point that it's hardly a rewarding reunion.

In its later seasons _Adventure Time_ became masterful in showing not telling. Wisdom wasn't a drawn out speech. Characters made choices for better or worse and learned from them without proclaiming this fact to the viewer. I'm reminded of the Cosmic Owl telling Finn "You blew it" after manipulating flame princess or Simon in Betty's vision of madness mouthing "you forgot your floaties." The subtleties in these moments invoke a deep sense of consequence in the viewer that I simply could not muster for this show.

Looking at the cast list I'm not surprised to find the writers of my favorite _Adventure Time_ episodes absent. It's high time for new stories Hollywood. My nostalgia has long since died.

A "reboot" with the same caliber of magic, weirdness, and storytelling as the original.
