Wildly disappointing on almost every level. Not a single new character is interesting, or even seems like they could be interesting, and the bad acting does not help.

I'd hoped for something on a grander scale, even if just for the pilot, but it felt especially small and confined.

If it wasn't for Coulson and the Marvel banner this would be gone within half a dozen episodes. Having said that "Under the Dome" was apparently the hit of the season and that is absolute rubbish. But like UtD, I just want to know the why. Why/How is Coulson alive? That's it. The credits rolled and that was the only thing that had my interest. I couldn't even remember the other characters names without some effort.

It's not even a case of having such high hopes or putting the idea on a pedestal, it's just a very weak showing.

@majormercyflush It's funny the only negative reviews I see obviously haven't watched past the second half of season 1. Just when it starts to get good. Shame you gave up on it so soon.

@myerz so it took about 12 episodes, around 3 months, to "start to get good"...

Anything else would have been cancelled long before. Money and brand got it past it's first hiatus. By all accounts, and as you say, it's after all that it started to get good.

I wouldn't say I gave up too soon, instead couldn't find the will to maintain the chore it became after a barely a handful of episodes. Why stick around when it just wasn't good? Which it wasn't, hence everyone's "you have to get past the first half of the season".

Maybe I'll give it another try sometime if I need something to binge in the background while I'm cooking or something, but there are shows that come along every season that fit that bill so who knows

@majormercyflush You see I think the same thing about Arrow and Flash but in reverse. They started off strong and then just got worse and worse, mid way through the first season they weren't even watchable. I'd rather watch AoS over those any day. You rated them an 8 so I guess I can't really understand your reasoning.

@myerz As you said they started strong which is when I rated them. Arrow has gone screaming down hill for the last couple of seasons and has become a background while I'm cooking show for me. I keep up with it more for continuity/crossover purposes. I still like The Flash though it has had some wobbly periods. The drop in quality of Arrow is the reason I stopped rating on going TV shows as a whole because the rating only reflects up to that point, and frankly I'm not going back and revising all of my ratings as my opinion changes. Rating seasons I think is a more constructive metric. I also rated it at time when the text description was more relevant than the number. Trakt started and all you had was Totally Ninja or Weak Sauce. Personally I think the text descriptions ie Fair, Good, Great etc all need to slide down one number in which case I would have rated them 7 but that's another thing entirely.
