As somebody who is not American and has never really been exposed to either this case or any of the people involved: is OJ really as dumb as he is presented here? He seems positively mentally disabled in some scenes! That aside, the show is decent enough. The performances are for the biggest part pretty great, everything else ranges from ok to decent enough. I don't find it very compelling, but I think that's down to me not having any prior ties to the story: I'm enjoying it as if it were pure fiction rather than a fictionalized account of reality. And it sure as hell is crazy enough to pass for fiction, mostly due to the ridiculously broken American legal system.

You don't have to know about the OJ case, or being expose to the characters. This is one of the best dramas on TV today! Every Tuesday I can't wait for the show to start. Great directing! Perfect cast! Awesome story! I hardly don't watch television anymore, because of dumb shows on today. Have no meaning. No plot. Corning as hell. I hope FX do a 2nd season!

There was a website called Fade To Black. They obtained the OJ suicide letter, it was filled with misspellings of common, simple words. So they dictated it to a 5 year old and he had fewer misspellings. So they took the results, and mailed it to the Dean of USC, his college, and asked how many yards does an illiterate running back need to run to get a degree from USC. My impression was he was like this show and now ESPN has a multipart 30 for 30 on him. I think he was a personable guy that had a temper and because of his athletic gifts pushed through school . Btw, my sister met him in the early 80s in Florida at a event on ABC called The Superstars. He was nice to her and gave her his phone number. She was a PE teacher with her Special Education class. Frank Gifford on the other hand was a turd.

https://web.archive.org/web/20001018025505/http://www.fadetoblack.com/

@acidfreecookies I believe what seems to you as mental disability is the result of what gave him initial fame: American "football," a sport increasingly indicted for its destructive effect on players' bodies and especially brains.

Sarah Paulson and Courtney B Vance will be up for Emmys. Great acting and somehow compelling even though we all know what happens.

Not quite as dramatic as the real case - but almost! Excellent writing and casting.

good show the second season is in development, and it will focus on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. why would they do a show about Hurricane Katrina when there are plenty of other crime stories in american history like the manson murders, jim jones Jonestown Massacre, jonbenet ramsey, menendez brothers, amy fisher, the zodiac killer, jeffrey dahmer. ETC... come on people.

This series has garnered a lot of award attention, so I sought it out. I remember the original media frenzy around this trial that was played out in our living room. The phenomenon launched Court TV and a bevy of reality court shows. Even though it played out during my time, the series filled in some of the details not so apparent at the time, Excellent teleplay, integrity in the depictions and tone of the piece, and great performances (although I never really saw beyond Cuba Gooding to OJ). It's conclusions are sobering: the power of celebrity, the fear of racial violence, and the sad state of the American judicial system to be so susceptible to petty manipulation. I give it a solid 8.5 (great drama) out of 10.

I found it entertaining, after living through the actual events with the rest of America.

A really entertaining show, just zipped along, pure farce for the most part and very funny! Slightly at odds with the subject matter and you sincerely hope things weren't as black and white as presented (pun intended).. Were the jury really that stupid? I found the sad/emotional scenes involving the victims' families a little disingenuous as the rest played out like a comedy. I agree that the actress playing Marcia was superb. The judge was by far the most likeable character and the only one to come out of the mess with any credit.... Had similarities with the Steven Avery case although OJs lawyers were more successful in alleging a police made conspiracy!
