Reading bad acting here sounds like none of these people actually watched the show.
Or don't know Helix, The Strain, Scorpion etc.
One of the better SciFi shows these days, mainly for it being a mini series. There's no time to waste when you only have so much time.
I like to think about this as a form of Truman Show but massively bigger.
Contrary to other people I'd say the acting is decent with well-known B-actors from Saving Hope, Cougar Town (ah, well, the show itself is awful, the actors for the most part capable nontheless) that one guy giving Stroke the pills looked like that one "main" character from the Canadian version of 19-2, who got shot. Not sure about that, though but a likely possibility.
Great intertwined plottwists, it's not clear who works for whom and who you can actually trust.

Hopefully, this gets a full season. But thinking about that most people frown upon the genre SciFi nowadays, having weird expectations I think it won't.

You can still call it bad acting even if there is worse out there. The cast is also big so it's not just about one or two actors. I won't be able to located a good actor in this either though but that depends on personal tastes which seem to be quite different for us ;).

It's not about that there's worse out there, it's about that I don't find "bad acting" justified as label for this show. Hence I mentioned three series showing serious issues with the acting throughout.
It's not to show there's worse but to give a hint of the spectrum of bad acting there is and that Ascension is easily in mid-range of said spectrum. I think people claiming bad acting mean something different or don't know the spectrum. (Sounds probably more arrogant than I mean it)

Maybe people who say this (among them you) rather mean, the acting isn't convincing or the premise isn't believable or along the lines but those are subjective impressions, totally fine by me, it's your opinion after all. But they don't equal to objectively or a justified label of bad acting.
However, I am just guessing here because it's just said "the acting is bad". Where? Why? Examples? Just out of curiosity. I won't say there aren't debatable scenes in Ascension myself. But which scenes make you say the acting and dialog overall is bad and why?

A good actor isn't a guarantee for only great scenes. Just like a bad actor isn't a guarantee for only bad scenes.
Reducing the actors to their level of (known) expertise to determine if this is a good show or not is reducing your own ability to enjoy series with unknown actors. Robing Lord Taylor playing Penguin in Gotham comes to mind.
Have you seen Will Smith' After Earth that was critically canned? It wasn't just the script that was terrible.

I am not saying there are no mistakes or problems in this show, the acting in this show surely isn't brilliant but definitely not bad either. The same for the dialogues.
They make sense here. They aren't repetitive, they aren't completely wrong with the used terminology as they are in Scorpion all the time. Something in this show is actually happening (due to time restrictions) and it is explained. Given the fact it's only 3 hours long there is quite a lot happening.
Giving it a 3 with just saying "bad acting, bad dialogues" seems very shallow and unfair to me.
