Pleasantly surprised how much I actually enjoyed this after being hella skeptical at the start. It's obviously never going to be as good as the original but it also isn't a complete trainwreck like a certain movie.

The fight choreography is really great and the CGI during those scenes looks pretty amazing. Dallas Liu absolutely killed it. Uncle Iroh is amazing as always.

On the other hand there is a lot of exposition dump in the beginning. You can tell the main trios actors are all pretty inexperienced but all growing over the course of the season. Also not a huge fan of how they handled/changed some of the spirit world stuff (altough some changes like combining various story lines during Omashu worked fantastic). Maybe one or two more scenes of Aang being goofy couldn't hurt. Sometimes it got a bit too dark and serious.
And I think that some city/world background scenes looked way to green screeny and the outfits and set designs have that typical cheap and way too clean Netflix fantasy look.

But these are relatively minor things IMO. I still very thoroughly enjoyed watching all 8 episodes

It is as if the dumb kid copying the exam of the smart kid and doing it poorly. It lacks **everything** good the original had.

@tenchikat Agree. But surprised the admins didn't delete your comment. Looks like TrakTV only allows positive comments.

I guess the bending looks better than the movie… but that’s as much good as I can say about this. Let Avatar be the ultimate example of why animation should be a respected form of media and that not every animation needs a live action.

Judging by the fact that Konietzko and co have cut ties with the project, I don't have high hopes for this.

@crxssed Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino were involved as creators for Avatar and Legend of Korra, and are involved in all other related productions as either Producers, Executive Producers, or Writers... this production is no different... they are all Nickelodeon productions... judging by the fact that you have not waited to get the full information, and chose to comment first... I don't have high hopes for you, either... not that you asked...

@chandramohan-kannan https://www.instagram.com/p/CDy5EcgDELh/ You're wrong. This is very much a Netflix production not Nickelodeon. Maybe double check your info before you go around assuming things. I have known about this series for years, being a fan of the original cartoons.

That being said, I'll give you the benefit of doubt. You're probably thinking of Avatar Studios which _is_ a Nickelodeon studio lead by the original creators. It has nothing to do with this Netflix-lead production. That, I have high hopes for.

@crxssed well, I am a fan of the original cartoon as well... and I see the insta you have shared (thanks for it)... but the fact remains that they were both given writing and teleplay credits... which is the second ending credit after mentioning that the director is Michael Goi... secondly, right at the beginning, it says in a prominent font that this is "A Netflix Series", followed by "In Partnership with Nickelodeon"... I don't mind giving you the exact timing on each episode... but considering that it is not that hard to find, I'll pass...

On a different note, M. Night Shyamalan's movie might have been made by Paramount in the same vein that this was produced by Netflix... but every character and derivative of them is the intellectual property of Nickelodeon and there is no way they are not involved in the production... it is the same way that Marvel, might choose to lease out Spiderman to Sony and X-Men to 20th Century Fox... but they are always involved in the production, and it always begins with the Marvel Showcase, irrespective of who currently owns right to some of their characters...

That said, since you gave me the benefit of the doubt; I will return the favour in kind... I have known several contributors across the spectrum of every industry (especially the entertainment industry), where people who perceive that they got a bad deal, pretend not to have anything to do with their work, despite having contributed and getting paid for the same... I don't expect this scenario to be any different... and that doesn't tarnish the respect I have for Bryan and Michael one wee bit... personally, I was involved in a couple of instances/transactions where I was part of a team that adapted a book to the screen... and the original authors, decided to walk out of the project after the first screening, before the post-production began because they claimed to not see their vision out there... but it was essentially a disagreement that cropped up, after their involvement in screenplay, and being paid for it... on most of these cases the production houses do nothing to correct them, for the fear of incurring additional bad publicity, and they keep quite... I wouldn't be too surprised if that were the case here as well... also I might be entirely wrong on that specific account...

Regardless, I have just watched the first episode... and I am not too disheartened by the adaptation... given that the original was so loved, it is always going to be difficult to measure up to it... especially if someone has already seen it... but whatever little I have seen at this moment, isn't bad...

Why? The chances of this being better than the original are incredibly slim.

Why is it Netflix always finds the worst new actors? No expressions in their faces—you just don’t believe any of their emotions. Script is just bad. Something that might work in an anime or manga/comic book just cannot be translated that easily onto the screen. They made a really good version of One Piece but managed to really screw the up. And I have only seen episode 1 so far …

Traktv is now shady as fuck site. If you post anything negative they remove your comments. It’s become hard to trust the reviews or ratings.

This will be terrible show. Lacks diversity as there are no blacks and whites represented.

They will also turn the characters gay because you know the modern audience believes majority of the pollution of the world is gay.
