This great gem of a TV show is truly watchable, if your into Fantasy, drama, Suspense,

This is a tale about the chosen one a girl who becomes a mythological figure who fight vampires and other nasties evil trows at the world. In this case Buffy Summers is the chosen one, The Show Tackles all the things the supernatural trows at her, but also real life issues like addiction, same sex relationships and relationships in general. With an great cast and Josh Weddon behind the scenes, this show was destined to become a pop culture show.

The first 3 Seasons show Buffy and her gang of friends named the Scoobies, going through the motions of groin up and having relationships, With first three seasons high on the mark, The focus shifted in season 4 to young adult and college, whilst this season had some real good things going for itself, i found it the lesser of all seasons. Season 5 however manages the catch up paste and the show again scores high marks in its genre territory.

Also to accompany this great peace of tv shows is a great ensemble of music featured from various alternative artist performing in the Bronze, A Cafe/club scene Buffy and friends like to hang out at. The Shows background Music is scored bye "Christopher Beck", some people might know him from scoring the soundtracks for "Babylon 5".

This Show is a must see for anyone who likes this Genre.

I don't think your gonna be disappointing :-)

@le-heisenberg I agree with everything you've said here. Absolutely brilliant show! I've watched all 7 seasons at least twice and every now and then I love to throw a random episode on. So rewatchable... don't think that's actually a word but you know what I mean :)

Buffy used to be my favorite show when I was about 13 years old. Since we are in 2020 and escapism is the new black, I am rewatching the full show after this whole time, and I am doing that to revisit and check if the feeling survives after all these years. Now I am on season 3 and guess what? It has not been a miss so far!!!

First of all, we need to recognize the quality of the production: it's a teen show in the late 90s, so do not expect The Avengers' special effects. The Blu-ray remaster is a miss, so go for the original in 4:3 instead of the widescreen experience (to understand, watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZWNGq70Oyo&ab_channel=PassionoftheNerd THERE ARE SPOILERS ALL OVER THE VIDEO!).

I remember watching it and now I think about how much it interfered in the way I looked at being a teenager. The show has such a great positive influence on how we deal with our emotions at that age, that I feel as if it was one of my therapeutic tools through adolescence. Also, being a gender non-conforming myself, the queer representativity was very important for me. When we talk about social issues, we can see there is a great effort in making things fairer to women, including: a badass female protagonist kicking misogynous asses off, her badass single mother being a great parent on her own, a badass female bisexual-witch-nerd best friend, male characters who need to be saved by women several times and literal sarcastic commentaries about the patriarchal structures all the time. This is as far as it gets in this department, for there could have been a few more representations of plural women. Also, black representativity could have gone WAY FURTHER than the stereotyped Kendra. Still, it's progress in the late 90s for teens while there were American Pie and Scary Movie going on.

If you are considering watching it, you have my blessing: WATCH IT!
If you have already watched it in the past, you have my recommendation: WATCH IT ONCE MORE, WITH FEELING!

Wow. I mean it unfortunately came out in 97 and ended in '03 which was really the worst possible time for me. That was going to HS and working full time to save for college and then going to college and working two jobs to avoid debt time.

So when it came out I was vaguely aware of it and some people who's opinions on things like this I still trust absolutely loved it... and some actually hated it. Which to me made it a controversial must see for me... but 97-03 was just not the time.

I didn't get to watch it until life calmed down a bit and that was around '09. And, of course, by then NO ONE wanted to talk about i and everyone had moved on to other shows. So I was left in my own Buffy Bubble and it became a sort of private love affair.

So... what you have here is a television series based on B-Movie tropes that then turns them upside down in a way that you will absolutely love... if you love B-Movies and all their tropes.

The cast is across the board hysterical. It's not really a comedy, but you're going to at least chuckle in every episode.

And the pretty blond ditz that dies in every B horror movie is the kick-butt savior. Which is problematic in 2020 because you aren't supposed to acknowledge that women were ever portrayed as heroic before 2016, and, as a result, any mention of this will get you the N , M, and F word labels by people want to say that they are fighting for equality and thus Buffy doesn't fit in their timelines....

... so even today it's controversial... but this time it is controversial by the people that SHOULD like it... because it was made before 2016 so they don't.

Point being, it is awesome from start to finish... I'm one of the freaks that didn't take any issue with Dawn...and if you have one of the better teachers you are going to learn all about how it forever changed the English language... so there you go, if the title is the reason you don't like it, you got that academia link.

But, who cares, it's just fun to watch and isn't that the point?
