Loving the atmosphere so far. With the current Stephen King resurgence, Hulu might have a hit on their hands

So much build-up throughout the 10 episodes with so little pay off.
I'm not completely sure the writers of this show knew where they wanted this first season to go. I completely understand the appeal of ambiguous endings but this felt like an injustice to the people who watched all 10 episodes.
I have more questions after the finale that I did before I had watched it and reading theories online has just added more confusion to what I have just watched.
I'd have a lot less issues if the show wasn't an anthology and I knew that more about The Kid and Henry would be explained next season.
Overall, i really enjoyed the show. The journey and the mystery was captivating and kept me wanting more, I just feel like the destination was a let down. Definitely a show worth watching if you like mystery though, even with the loose ends.

10 out of 10 from me! Absolutely phenomenal! I thought Season 1 was amazing, but season 2 is just as good if not better so far (on episode 3).

Absolutely love Stephen King and delighted to see so many TV shows and films recently giving his work the recognition it deserves. There was a lot made in the 80’s etc; which were good in their time, but recently his stories have been so well done. He’s got a brilliant mind for Suspense, Thriller, Horror & Supernatural. Twists and turns you’d never expect.

Oh did I say this show is phenomenal lol.

If you enjoy horror and supernatural, don’t pass this by. My lovely mother doesn’t enjoy anything like this and would say ‘well that’s not believable’ or ‘that’s far fetched’ lol. Therefore, it’s not everyone’s thing. But, what even more strange is she likes James Bond and Mission Impossible Films :joy:

Anyway, back to Castle Rock...enjoy!

I can’t wait for the next episodes, I’ve not been this excited for a show in a longtime.

Let’s hope we see more of Stephen King’s work emerging soon :pray_tone1:

@angel1online I totally agree! I just discovered and watched both seasons and are sad that this excellent show is cancelled - no more seasons :( But who wants to help me by starting a list with stephen kings novels having the strongest links to castle rock?
- Misery (pretty clear reference at the end of 2nd season)
- Salem's lot
@handykl I’m glad you enjoyed it as much as me, as well as a Stephen King fan.

The list sounds like a splendid idea and happy to contribute. Although it’s been such a longtime since I watch this (over 3yrs :scream:). I will rewatch over the coming weeks and leave you a message

Speak soon :skull::ghost::clown:

This was a really promising show at the beginning but with each episode it became more and more confusing. Each episode left me with more questions which led me to believe there would be some grand finale that would explain everything. Alas, there was not.
I read that the show is getting a second season but it will be based on a new story from King's book _Misery_. I'm a sucker for psychological thrillers and horrors so I'll probably end up tuning in yet again, I just hope it makes more sense than this season did. I am so lost!

@swanqueenz That’s exactly why I love Stephen King; it leaves things open to your own imagination and interpretation. There’s nothing more powerful than our own imagination. I understand some don’t enjoy not having conclusions and like things to be answered and not left wondering. I know it can be a real annoyance for some. There’s no right or wrong, we are individuals and all like different things. Life would be pretty dull if we were all the same.

Your view is extremely valid for viewers who don’t like open endings etc. Personally, I love them; it gives my mind somewhere to escape too and get lost in thought

I was initially intrigued by this show so I gave it a chance. But it became really confusing. I was starting to get mad each week I would watch because literally nothing would happen in the episode. I remember thinking that the finale better be fire, because literally nothing has happened for several episodes and NOPE, the finale was trash.

Castle Rock strarts off well, setting up multiple intriguing mysteries, but in the end delivers almost no payoff. Not a good start to an anthology series. If you have not watched this, I would skip it. There is one excellent episode (The Queen), but overall it is very frustrating to go through multiple glacially paced episodes that are setting up more and more questions, only to arrive at an end that answers none of them. And it makes the main character seem like a complete douche. I know they were going for an ambiguous ending and it would have been better executed if they had left 1-2 of the bigger mysteries with no clear answer, instead of leaving all the mysteries unresolved (with a couple of vague suggestions). I'm not sure I will be returning for S2.

I love Stephen King’s body of work and I nearly idolize J.J. Abrams. So, what could go wrong with Castle Rock?

Well, almost everything. Sure — my expectations were (too) high. But still, after watching the last episode, I remain disappointed.

I’m still hungry. Hungry for a show capturing the universe of Stephen King’s short stories and novels — not to mention The Dark Tower (as in the books, not the movie).

TL;DR; Had too high expectations. Love Stephen King as an author and J.J. Abrams as a producer and writer for television.

**Castle Rock does not deliver a Stephen King experience, like it promises.**

Instead it delivers a good, but rather ordinary, mystery with some time and space warps, portioned in ten episodes.

(And no, there’s no closure or sense of a “real” ending — but what would you expect from King and, even more so, J.J.?)

This was a mixed bag for me. Episode 7 "The Queen" was a master class in acting and superbly written and directed. Perfection! No episode is less than 'good'. The casting was spot on. Having Terry O'Quinn set the pace was a pleasure and I've always been a fan of Scott Glenn. And, well, it is not for naught that Sissy Spacek attracts Oscar attention. But, then again, all the cast gave strong performances. The plot had all the eccentricities of Stephen King, but the screenplay, overall, was disjointed, too many questions unanswered and I found the ending less than satisfactory. It is rumoured there will be a second season, but I think this would be better served as a stand alone piece. I give the series an 8 (good with moments of great, and a moment of perfection!) out of 10. [Mystery, Fantasy, SciFi, Carnage]

3 Thoughts After Completing ‘Castle Rock’:

1. I actually finished this show a while ago, and didn’t expect it to get cancelled. Definitely a bummer.

2. I love love loved the idea of a Stephen King multiverse show. So much potential. And I loved how
you initially thought each season was it’s own individual story. I was blown away by the finale that tied it all together.
I was excited to see where things would go next.

3. Beyond the fabulous SK Easter eggs, the performances were equally fantastic. Sissy Spacek in season one and Lizzy Caplan in season two were both awesome standouts.

[Season Two - Initial Impression] My mother was fascinated by Stephen King's books. Mom once said that she thought King would have gone insane if he didn't exorcise his imagination by consigning his terrors to print. Most of the works Mom liked scared me half to death so I was very particular when choosing which film adaptations I can watch. But when J. J. Abrams and Stephen King team up, I'm all in (even if I have to watch some of it through my fingers). This second season gives us that unique blend of fascination and terror, combined with great acting and that homespun feeling of Maine. I give this second season an 8 (great) out of 10.
