@drygoatair Sounds like you are suggesting it's not bringing up slavery because it's not ACTUALLY Harriet Tubman. You are welcome to think that if you want. It's a free planet.

@tvjackson How do you know it doesn't bring up slavery? From what I understand you stopped watching as soon as her name appeared on screen, which is right at the beginning.

@tvjackson Look, I don't necessarily agree or disagree with what you're saying. But leaving such a comment when you're disregarding a show all together without even watching it feels like you're just doing it to feel better about yourself and/or to feel superior to others.

@drygoatair I agree with everything you just said. <br /> <br /> Normally, feeling superior to others is supposed to be a bad thing, but.... this show has a character named Harriet Tubman.<br /> <br /> I'll wait for someone else to tell me how it handles the topic of slavery before I even think about watching.

@tvjackson yeah because the characters from the original show like Abraham Lincoln had nothing to do with historical slavery.

@youngargonaut <br /> Black people are the victims of slavery not white people like Abraham Lincoln, There are many TV shows that feature references to him and don't focus on slavery. He wasn't a slave. <br /> <br /> Sounds like you are fine about making jokes of people who suffered slavery. Or whatever you are trying to say with your comment. Either way, I agree with your right to free speech.

@tvjackson this show doesn't focus on slavery either, even with Harriet Tubman's presence. honestly her character is pretty generic, but that's kind of the point of Clone High - the characters are often very unlike their cloneparents because subversion of expectations is funny.<br /> <br /> if you think that my comment means I'm somehow okay with jokes making fun of the slavery of black people, you are a very strange person. why is that what you got from what I said? I was pointing out that all the clones in this show have serious historical context (Cleopatra committed suicide irl, should the show avoid jokes about suicide because of this?), but you arbitrarily drew the line at slavery, despite Abraham Lincoln being involved from the beginning. I know he wasn't a slave, but he was still involved with the history of slavery, and that's why I brought that up. strange hill to die on for the silly clones show that mostly has nothing to do with any of the people the characters are named after.

To take out the slavery and make a silly show still using her name, apparently other people don't think that's offensive. At least not the people who made this show.<br /> <br /> It's just that I think Harriet Tubman was an important person and her name shouldn't be used to make a silly character on a TV show.<br /> <br /> Seems wrong to me, but other people keep telling me they disagree.<br /> <br /> One day someone will say "I know about Harriet Tubman from the Clone show. I don't study black history, so I didn't know she used to be a slave. They didn't mention that in the show."
