User Reviews for: DC's Legends of Tomorrow

So, there's good news and bad news about season one of DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Bad news first: the early episodes are pretty bad. There are too many characters to get a feel for any of them right off the bat. Also, the villain, Vandal Savage, comes across pretty much as a complete wuss. Sure, he's got some kind of immortality thing going on, but with a ship full of super-people it should be a cakewalk to take him out. All the reasoning behind why this doesn't happen requires some major hand-waving.

Good news: it gets a lot better, around halfway through. Suffering through that poor early stuff gives time to introduce each character, and their various struggles/relationships/etc start to be more meaningful. Savage is still kinda weak as the major big-bad, but he gets help in a way that makes at least a little bit of sense. The last 2-3 episodes are really pretty good.

Sadly, that's a lot of time spent to get to the good stuff. If you're a DC comics fan, or watch Flash/Arrow, you'll probably enjoy Legends of Tomorrow just to see what they've done with the characters. If not, this one might not be for you.

Ok, I get why there are so many negative comments... but hear me out because it's not a bad show. Your expectations will make you think that it is though.

The show started out as a superhero show with a team up of B-grade heroes. It was a self-satiric loose comedy in its core, with a few serious figures and storylines to contrast that. As the seasons went on, it leaned more and more on its comical aspects and ditched the "heavier" storylines all together. The stiff characters either departed or were loosened up by the writers. The identity of the show was actively explored season by season, you can tell as a viewer. It ended up being a fun and very relaxed space-time superhero show. In every story the Legends screw up the timeline with the best of intentions at heart, but always manage to patch it up somehow in the end and move on to the next adventure to "fix" the timeline.

Is that a bad thing? Well, yes and no. I like it because it's a chill show, I can just turn off my brain and enjoy it while eating a meal. It has very good vibes and not much brain power needed to enjoy it. It's just good for a show in this genre. The bad thing is that it's not very cohesive as a whole. As stated before, it constantly changes from season to season. Casting departures and new arrivals are always happening, plus the self-exploration journeys the show took were just too many. To be fair, they worked, it never dips hard like the Arrow. But still, it's not very consistent from season to season, apart from the last few ones that landed on that clear comedic identity.

That issue alone keeps me from referring it to others, I imagine it would be weird to binge watch it. Does that make it a bad show though? I don't believe so. Adjust your expectations for the genre you're going to watch and you'll have a great time with the Legends! Is it a great show? Nope. It's not supposed to be.

Legends of tomorrow is the best and greatest show to exist. I never heard of this show until I watched The Flash, and after that, I rewatched the dhow 5 times. 4 times cause I wanted to and the 5th time cause of season 5 coming out. So yea by far this is the greatest show.

A fun and thoroughly entertaining series.

When it started, it was more gritty with a slightly serious undertone... but over its evolution it has become way more tongue-in-cheek.
The characters have evolved, some characters have gone and others have been introduced... which has worked well in keeping it fresh. I have grow an affinity with each and every character (even Damian Dark, which I never thought I would say!).

I have to force myself not to binge watch this... I want it to last as long as possible.
