For me, this was the best anime of the season. Light-hearted shows like these are very soothing to watch.
For those who are not into "slice of life", this anime might feel a bit too slow paced but it will be quite entertaining if you take your time to finish it.

**PS:** Manga hasn't been translated up to the point that the anime covered but I REALLY do hope this to not have the same cursed ending of **Usagi Drop** (https://trakt.tv/shows/usagi-drop) manga.

Cute and refreshing, it hits all the emotional landmines without being overbearing or depressing. Loved that it showed things as it is, with an underlying seriousness but an overall 'life goes on' and 'new paths ahead' perspective. Personally, I think this show is pretty much the embodiment of the slice-of-life genre. I'll definitely be recommending it to people.

If I had to nitpick at anything, it would be that the story felt incomplete to me. Looking forward to a second season that solves that.

(Vague thematic spoilers.) Ostensibly, this is a slice of life show about a traditional confection shop. As the show unfolds, it turns out to just be a drama about dealing with abandonment and finding community and learning to trust and love the people around you. It's great! I really enjoyed my time with it.
