Slow first couple of episodes,hoping it gets better as its already becoming a bit of a bore.

It... I just can't describe how very let down I was by this miniseries. It had the potential of being dark, difficult, of being the sort of show which tests your beliefs. It was none of those things. I truly think watching this show is a horrific waste of time. Hard pass.

Why did I spend 8x 40 minutes of my life watching a tv show where absolutely nothing happens? I had high hopes for the last episode, but forget it: nothing ever happens!

Not sure why the bad reviews, I enjoyed it from episode one, yes I thought there was going to be more series, but when I realised I actually wondered how they were gonna wrap it up in the last 2 episodes I had left, I wasn't disappointed.

Would rate it 6.7/10 personally.

As others have said, it has potential but falls short with unbelievable actions being made, and some of exaggerated teenage rebellion. The music is quite good and the popular film referenced are spot on.
It's pretty much a modern twist on Carrie.

Cant say it was a great watch but I watched it all without loosing interest so maybe that says something but one thing is for sure, its quite a weird TvShow

Not really spectacular but nice to binge watch

I really, really wanted this to be scarier than it was. But ultimately the danger was minimal and the stakes were low. The show also kept jumping back to irrelevant subplots, and between the two it was never able to build up a decent amount of tension or provide any satisfactory payoff. Also, the characters were f****** a**holes. But hey, the soundtrack was bangin'.

edit: I just realised it's a mini series, no season 2. So, I changed my mind, it's inconclusive, if they weren't gonna make more - something should have happened.

It may not be the greatest series out there, but if you like the genre you won't regret watching it. It's weird, creepy and holds suspense throughout the entire first season. I wasn't bored for one second. Even though there's teenage drama that I don't really care for, it blends in with the main storyline and it's not too much. 6/10

As cults are non existent... But they are. And the why of they are unknown for so much time, how do they work..
Is not easy to find to explain something more complex. The series does the job to let the viewer know, who may be able be vulnerable, consequences and much more..
Again for the complete information without a storyline that sadly for many is just teenager drama... May I suggest, watch a documentary (many)...

Not exactly what I thought it would be as the description hinted at a cult hunting down a member who escaped, but it was more low key. Regardless of being a bit slow, it kept the viewer on the edge of their seat watching a young girl who escaped from a cult struggle to normalize with the real world all while developing what seems to be an obsessed relationship with her new care taker. All the while the cult continue to come after her in subtle yet disturbing ways.

[Netflix] It's constantly stuck in the middle, a mix of satanic cults, teen drama and a little bit of horror. There is a permanent sense of references to the most bland clichés of the genre. The effort of trying to offer a different narrative is appreciated, but it continually blurs. The final twist plot is as absurd as it is implausible, with an open ending just the way Netflix likes it.

I binged all of this in one evening - while it wasn’t amazing, it was still good and easy to binge! You want to see what happens next which makes you click next episode after next even if it’s 3am :blush:

It had potential but ultimately fell flat for me. Episode 8 should have been episode 4 and then it should have shifted into dark mode. It could have focused on Mae indoctrinating Susanne as they spent a lot of time building up her past.

I found myself fast forwarding through most of the last 3 episodes just to get to the end.

Bummer, because Madeleine Arthur was very good throughout.

After finishing the series, I realize the protagonist isn't Mae, it's actually Suzanne. Mae is the antagonist, she literally played the villain all along, setting herself up in the end. The show was Suzanne self-discovery journey into moving on from her childhood trauma. Overall, very good story and characters, would recommend :)

Skip it you are looking for a horror series. This is show about how parents that own a dog are bad people and siblings never truly get along. But there is some mystery there, specially 3 of them. First, why did a young and beautiful girl offered a drink to that low key depressed husband in that bar?.Was she part of the cult? Was she the one [spoiler]that set fire to that house?[/spoiler]. Second, what happened to the initial bank manager that was also attracted by that incompetent husband?Where did she go? Was she taken by the cult? Was she the one [spoiler]that set fire to that house?[/spoiler]. Lastly, what motivates the detective to spend countless hours on such a small case. Is the trauma of the past, an attraction with that super mom or just to have a reason to flirt with the female detective?
And that’s it. All the rest are super obvious and simple situations that are exaggerated to create some drama, where most man are evil or dumb, starting with me that spend 8x1h watching this a so many minutes writing this review.

A mostly boring show. It was interesting at the beginning, liked the story, even the ending, but most of the show goes very slow…
