Boyfriend Accused of Faking Cancer, Lying about Being Kidnapped and Scamming $70,000
Episode 161 - 5-10-2017
42m
Julianne claims her daughter’s boyfriend, Leighton, has “lied his way through life” and is turning her beautiful daughter, Mariah, into a liar and a con artist. She claims Leighton lied about being kidnapped, faked cancer and convinced a friend to give him $70,000 for a business that never opened. She claims he even created a crowdfunding page to raise money to treat his alleged cancer. Julianne also blames him for getting her daughter, Mariah, addicted to drugs. But Mariah says Leighton absolutely did not get her addicted to drugs — he just helped her because she has “bad veins.” Leighton and Mariah are pointing the finger at Julianne and claim she is the one who first introduced her daughter to alcohol and marijuana. Leighton says Julianne is very controlling and manipulative and constantly tries to break them up because she despises him. In a tense in-studio showdown, Julianne faces off against Mariah and Leighton. Are Mariah and Leighton ready to get help? Why was hotel security called before the show, and what happened after Leighton and Mariah arrived at the studio before the taping?

Is Alleged Craigslist Killer Miranda Barbour a Serial Killer?
Episode 145 - 4-28-2014
42m
Twenty-one-year-old Melissa suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder and says most of her rituals are focused on one thing — trying to make herself more attractive than her older sister, Justine. Melissa says she constantly chants, “I want to be prettier than Justine,” in her head, making it difficult for her to even hold a normal conversation. She says she must also perform numerous rituals throughout the day, which she believes will make her prettier — and Justine uglier. She admits that her behavior is disruptive to her life — and has hurt her relationship with her sister — but says she can’t control it. Melissa’s mother, Noreen, says she’s also at a loss for how to help her daughter, and she hates to see her daughters in conflict. What does Dr. Phil think is at the root of Melissa’s obsession? Then, Dr. Phil has a big challenge for Melissa, who is adamant that she does not want to be onstage with Justine, out of fear that people will compare them. Will she agree to let her sister join the conversation? How can Melissa learn to manage her OCD — and reclaim her life?
