The US version doesn't compare to the original -- definitely wouldn't cause me to miss an entire night's sleep like the Danish version (hint: don't start watching in the evening unless you want to see sunrise). Love the way they morphed the ending of each episode to serve as a next-episode-preview-without-spoilers effect, always that same music with the characters having different revelations. I must've rewound a minute or so at least twice at the end of each episode just to admire the technique.

Scandi-Noir at its' best, I like how their actors look and act as someone in their scenarios might -- less emphasis on wardrobe, hair & makeup with a huge effort in writing and acting. This one, Broen | Bron, and Äkta Människor are among my favorites, all of which have English-speaking remakes that pale in comparison.

Likely the best TV series to have ever emerged from Denmark. Forbrydelsen (The Killing in the English speaking world) is predominantly responsible for the current obsession with Scandinavian crime drama.

Fantastic show which had me on the edge of my seat till the end. Brilliant acting by so many of the actors involved and a show I highly recommend.

Disappointing, pointless, and most of all boring. I can't believe I wasted 20 (!) hours watching this. I hate when people recommend this stuff... Have you ever seen a good crime show in your life if you give this garbage 10/10?!?

The first season of this show is an incredible good one. Strong acting and a good story and plot. Truly terrific.

But sadly season 2 and 3 are a lot less good. The same tricks are repeated too often and it becomes a bit repetitive and predictable. Also the characters in those stories are not that interesting or appealing, certainly not the politicians.

All characters of this show are very stubborn, nervous, intolerant and incompetent people.

Liked it but didn't love it. Compelling storylines, but I sometimes felt that political side of things was not interesting. I also didn't like Sarah Lund much - she's not a team player at work (hanging up on people, disobeying rules) and she's a terrible mother, with what seems like no behavioural change at all even in season 3. Being the 'best cop' doesn't excuse one from being like this. I can't really understand why anyone would like her, let alone give up a family with children to be with her. I must say the final scene to me seemed a bit out of character as well.

If not for the awkward final 30 minutes of the final episode if would have given this 10/10. :(

In English?

A great who-dunnit crime-drama! From the first episode until the very end of season 1 I was intrigued by the murder case of an ordinary young girl. Who killed Nanna Birk Larssen? It twists and turns at every episode, everyone is a suspect and paranoia is everywhere.

But the best thing about this show is that it shows the social impact of a murder on ordinary people. Are the parents sad, angry or in an emotional void, can cops leave their work behind when they get home, can (wrongfully accused) suspects continue their normal lives, how many lives get ruined because of one murder?

This is probably the most 'real' crime-solving show I have ever seen. Sure, it has its flaws and the ending is not as spectacular as I would have wanted it, but at the end of each and every one of the 20 episodes I have been wanting more and more and more. Finally something non-American that is great to watch!

Maybe i should give it a try some day :)

Unbelievable I am the only person that scrobbled this epic tvshow. Especially season one is big 10 out 10 stars! <3 Lund!
