Both seasons are good, with season 2 pretty much concluding but left open for a 3rd. Season 2 has ramped up the blood & guts effects, wasn't necessarily required to tell the story -- but the effects people must've enjoyed themselves. Unique series, nothing else like it. Lots of talent both in front and behind the cameras, very well done.

A really well made series in the category of "who dun it". Very thrilling and certainly well acted and produced. My advice: watch.

I loved season 1 but after it finished the show had a sharp decline in quality.
The tense mysterious atmosphere had been raplaced by a human experimantation plot intertwined with a undeveloped political conspiracy that no one even tries to explain. Among the new characters we have a stereotypical corrupt politician, stereotypical junkie delinquents, a killer whoes shamanic rituals and beliefs were also never explained and one of the main characters of the first season was turned into a demonic boogeyman. At this point I feel as if Fortitude is geting the Wayward Pine treatmant, as if Sky atlantic wanted to continiue the show but non of the directors and writers did, so they got an entirely new crew.
My recomendation is watch Season 1 and pretend it ended there if you can.

@mokins Have to agree here. Though it's not nearly as bad as Wayward Pines season 2, the character drawing and development really lacks a foundation, you don't have any sympathy for anyone of the characters left because most of them have gone nuts or showed their dark side, which has clearly overpowered them. This makes any sort of empathy impossible.
I still liked the way they introduced the mystery stuff and they stepped up their horror game, but still we should've had a better explanation of where this shaman came from and his knowledge/reasons. The so-called demon was explained though,
bees and stuff, also happened in 1942
Season 1 is still recommended as one of the better mystery-crime shows, Season 2 sinks into the mid-range sector. Still hoping for a better Season 3!

Rather underrated, which is probably the reason for cancellation, but this well written show does many things right. Whether it’s the quirky sci-fi mystery, occasional suspense, great performances by the talented cast, or tense action, Fortitude offers fine entertainment. So it is a shame that it could not get more traction, and remain alive for a few more seasons.

Season 1 was good, but there is no need for season 2. Have to agree with MokiNS and don't waste your time with season 2. Just consider it over.
Note: Don't miss the 12th episode of season 1 - it ties everything together. I didn't know there was a 12th episode - it wasn't on any of my streaming apps.

@speeddemon where do you see that there is a 12th episode of Season 1? Trakt only shows 11 episodes for Season 1.

@dyrhak I use an android box (Kodi) and not all add-ons have it either. That's why I mentioned it to look out for it.

Absolute shame this was cancelled, however they concluded the series extremely well in Season 3.

I’d have given this a 10, if it wasn’t so slow to start with. You expect the first few episodes to be slow, but practically the whole of season one was. I was unwell during season one and therefore continued to watch it as I wasn’t well enough to look for something else to watch; but I’m extremely glad I did continue and urge you to watch!

This is so original and incredibly well done, from the plot, actors, production etc.

It’s an extremely weird and interesting show, with excellent twists, suspense, action. It’s maybe not for the faint hearted, especially the last season.

Loved watching Dennis Quad, he’s such a phenomenal actor. Although, I will never see him the same after his toilet scene lol...I will say no more.

Really enjoyed having something so original to watch, gutted it’s finished.
