In the early twentieth century, Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi “Immortal” Sugimoto scratches out a meager existence during the postwar gold rush in the wilderness of Hokkaido. When he stumbles across a map to a fortune in hidden Ainu gold, he sets off on a treacherous quest to find it. But Sugimoto is not the only interested party, and everyone who knows about the gold will kill to possess it! Faced with the harsh conditions of the northern wilderness, ruthless criminals and rogue Japanese soldiers, Sugimoto will need all his skills and luck—and the help of an Ainu girl named Asirpa—to survive.

This anime is a masterpiece. I'm surprised by how little it is known in the anime community and it definitely deserves more recognition. I have so few complaints about this show, it's perfect. The only thing I can think of is the CGI shots but that's it. The art is so pretty and pleasing to look at. The story flows so well and keeps the watcher intrigued every episode. The characters and their development are so well done and you just can't help but love them. The sounds, and OP/ED's go perfectly well with the anime. I love this anime so much and it quickly became my favourite. Right from episode one I was into it. If you haven't watched, please give it a try you won't regret it!!

It's .. oddly pathed really. There's up & down, nice cultural background, story is a bit .. lacking.

Meh! Fans of this show sell it saying it has mature storytelling, great characters, and depth. But, all I found were hackneyed plots, uncompelling characters, and poor humour.

So good. Ignore the CGI bears in the early episodes. The show just gets better as it goes.
