Best adaptation of Sherlock Holmes ever. Even better than BBC's Sherlock (it lacks the drug abuse and 'unethical' practices from the detective. It's too "politically correct", it's somewhat annoying). Now if you think I'm on the wrong show posting this, either you didn't watch House MD, or you don't know Sherlock Holmes...

This was the best adaptation of House.

Nothing sherlock holmes alike. But i can understand why you have the feeling.

Series creator David Shore stated in an interview that Gregory House's character is partly inspired by Sherlock Holmes. Even the name "House" is a play on "Holmes" (with British pronunciation, a homophone for "homes"). In this sense, House is a better Sherlock than BBC's Sherlock, IMO. Also, "House MD" was not an adaptation. It was conceived and created as a TV Show, this very one we just watched... I beg your pardon, but I don't see your point, Bishop. (So late in answer, but I never got any kind of notifications for this...)

@ttofano We can also add that Arthur Conan Doyle took inspiration from a doctor to create Sherlock Holmes, Jospeh Bell, cited on the series too :)

Thank you for this thread (: I started to notice little things because of it - like
the guy that shot House is named Moriarty in script (never actually pronounced in the episode, though)
or that House lives in 221B (it has been on the building once or twice, then there has been 221 and B on the door to his apartment). I'm around third of the show and this thread actually made me pay more attention, so I don't miss stuff like this (:

@ttofano House is constantly popping pills and his status as a drug abuser is a constant theme throughout the series. Thanks for playing though...Johnny, tell us about ttofano's parting gifts....

Wilson have Cancer, now House should be diagnosed with Lupus, and that would be the major irony of this show

@vinik No way, if anything it would have to be the sarcoidosis to end all sarcoidoses ;-)

Loved the ending. Not too sensational, but fitting.

Thank you David Shore, for an amazing series.
And Hugh, looking forward to your next project!

Where's Lisa Edelstein (Cuddy) on the cast list? She was a regular on the show for seven seasons!

i hate shows that drag on with no end in sight, just crazy weekly conundrums and circular storytelling to nothingness just to stretch out more seasons ... House, Blacklist, Supernatural, etc all have these never ending meaningless story-lines that i don't care for, but draw in a big fan base ... i made it 70 episodes (finale of season three) before i couldn't take it any longer and moved on to other better shows

Ridiculously good show, but one where people criticising the "formulaic" nature are missing the point entirely. The medicine is merely a vehicle for the logic, philosophy, ethics, and comedy involved in the intricate writing of the show. Re-watching forevermore.

Exactly! It always ignited this spark within me, where I would philosophize about and find real world examples of the moral dilemmas and life lessons and so forth! I think I must have watched the entirety of the series about 6 times! Most hours I ever spent on a show. It's been more than, I think, 7 years since my last rewatch though. Might give it a spin again one of these days :)

Some people just aren't built for adapting storylines as metaphors for life I guess, or are too used to getting everything served up on a silver platter. Some seem focussed on what it isn't like, instead of the opposite

@unicornsandcandies LMFAO that's a hilarious reason to rate the show as 1 of 10. You should try It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, I'm sure you're gonna like it.

@unicornsandcandies That's kind of a silly take. House is a jerk, in every single episode, but he isn't a genuine transphobe. Or racist. Or sexist. Or homophobe. Or ableist. Or whichever other group he has also offended, because, he's House. Because ... he's a jerk. I'm surprised you got this far into the show if you can't handle his character tbh

David Shore is brilliant. I've been loving The Good Doctor, after finishing 10 episodes, loving this House, too. already attached to all the characters.
