One of the best shows so far this year. This cast is something else. Taron Egerton, Paul Walter-Hauser, + Ray Liotta and Sepideh Moafi take this story to a very high level from the first episode to the last. Really enjoying Apple+ last few months. Severance, The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, Slow Horses and now Black Bird. Great content.

Excellent true crime series. Here is what you get when you don't go woke, exceptional TV. Please Apple, cut down Netflix already.

Absolutely amazing crime drama I only wish it had more episodes I loved every minute of it. Stellar acting from Taron Egerton I can't wait to see him in other stuff he's going to get busy from now. I'm going to go ahead and say it: Paul Walter Hauser gives the best acting performance of the year! Also that intro music plays in my head on repeat so good!
R.I.P. Ray Liotta

Not since True Detective's first season has a crime drama been so compelling, so intriguing, and gripping! In just the first four episodes, it's far exceeded my own expectations. All, and I mean every actor steps up 100% in their roles here which is rare, and last but not least, Ray Liotta contributes an excellent contribution to the overall consistent acting throughout the entire casting performance. I'm glad to see his (Ray Liotta's) final role be of such a fine caliber of a series!

Excellent show. What makes it creepier is it's base on a true story. Oh Ray Loitta, he plays the main character (Jimmy) 's dad. No role Ray didn't master. This series is a definitely worth a watch!

I just don't like Taron Egerton at all, he's smarmy to me and feels like he just wants you to know how superiorly jacked he is. Even his walk is the over exaggerated "I'm so muscular I have to wobble and hold my arms 5 feet away" kind of bone-head gym guy you hate to work out next to.

That being said, he does a good job in this, I cannot deny that. It's an obscure "mostly true" story. The real star is Paul Walter, not only does he look like a dead ringer for the guy he portrays but he really pulls off mentally challenged and creepy in a superior way.

I watched the documentary right after the show to feel more, It's impressive how good the show and characters are:
CNN Special Report: To Catch A Serial Killer (2014) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utl53v0pz5Y)
At the same time It's sad :anguished:

Black Bird is one of the most gripping and intense series I have watched to date. Each second I could not keep my eyes off of it. I was either repulsed, upset or on the edge of my seat. Absolutely stellar performances all round, each actor deserves a huge round of applause. Taron Egerton is something special. **10/10**

Taron Egerton keeps getting better. I feel like we're in for a lifetime body of work that will rival the best.

It wasnt bad. The music and score by Mogwai was on point, the acting by Paul Walter Houser was truly excellent, the story bones were intriguing but the overall execution was nothing special and at times both heavy handed and anticlimactic. Taron Egerton’s character was not nuanced enough imo. I’m not sure if that’s a miss on the writing, directing or acting - or a bit of each. Not terrible, but it took me out of the story a few times along with a couple other odd writing choices.

I understand why people are comparing this to True Detective S1, but for me it doesnt go far enough to be considered in the same tier. That said, it’s definitely not bad and is worth a watch if you are looking for a 6spot serial killer miniseries. I really appreciate the limited/miniseries approach and love to see more productions using that format.

Fairly middling in my opinion. First episode was Jimmy being an insufferable one-dimensional alpha male type. Last episode was rushed and had characters making out-of-character decisions. Scenes with the murdered girls were trying way too hard to make me feel something about them, and were entirely unnecessary. Middle episodes with Jimmy and Larry were good, I just wish there were more like those.
