I honestly believe Chuck had a more believable premise. By trying to be 'realistic' they have forced me to think about how a chip like that would actually work. The data I/O would be impossible for the wifi they say he patches into. The processing power it would need would draw more power than a human could make and put out enough heat to cook him. I can let all the sensory hologram stuff go because they never try to explain it, so I assume it just works. Even if all this was possible, why is the chip faster than a server? They don't build massive server farms for kicks, you need that much computing power to do things like this.
With Chuck, the data was all in the brain, and the brain did the work. It also killed almost everyone it was put in, including Chuck. But Gabriel is just 'I just listened to every phone call ever made, it was totally easy'. Thats not super thrilling.
Chuck never asked me to take it seriously, so I didn't and it was great. Intelligence wants to be gritty and real, but it isn't. It's not very good.

I'm mad you trying to make sense of this lol. Forget the chip. Let's just go with the basics. In order to process and see the data he needs robotic eyes which he does have. Let's just stop there. Before you even consider building a computer you need an output device, a monitor (eyes). He doesn't have one. :)

Granted, i gave up after 2 episodes but im pretty sure they said it was all the chip, and the visions were chip induced hallucinations, not mechanical eyes. Even so, that is not the point. <br /> The point is the show wants to be a serious spy thriller, set now. But then there's this thing which is impossibly complicated, and would require a multitude of technologies that would vastly impact the rest of the world, but haven't. It lacks an internal consistency.
