@birdcages Big same. Pretty sure the book is all but explicit in the fact that Louis and Lestat are a queer couple.

An intelligent adaptation of the Anne Rice novels that manages to be faithful but at the same time update the story and its characters. It introduces interesting elements of reflection and builds much more complex characters, who are made credible by the splendid performances. The destructive and violent romanticism is shown without limits, and especially the appearance of the new Claudia is brutal and ironic. There is a dark sense of humor that accompanies an outstanding series.

@deshan101 having a 19 year old play claudia = not so much. they went even further from the book than the movie did on that. pretty tough to show them being punished for turning a child when that child is 19.

@mikedmeyer The character is 14, which I think would still make sense for it to be frowned upon, especially if you consider how sexualized vampirism is frequently portrayed. It's hard to say how well they will adapt this change since the episodes with Claudia aren't out yet, but from what I've seen in the trailers and such, her acting and styling make her seem juvenile enough to not seem like a 19 year old. You also have to remember that she has to eventually play a very old adult character in a minor's body, and this casting gives them the option to do things that they maybe otherwise couldn't if they got an actual minor to play her.

Incredible command of pacing, superb acting and insane chemistry. An abuse relationship hadn't been depicted so intensely in a lot of seasons. Top notch TV in the technical department as well, might easily be one of the best shows of 2022.

An absolute must of this season.

Stopped watching after the gay sex scene. This has nothing to do with the books and it's a shame. Just horrible!

Vampire Armand! A gay Muslim vampire?! I don't wanna be Islamophobic, but do you know anything about Islam? The Interview was in Dubai, do you even know what are the laws about homosexuality in UAE? I am completely okay with diversity in media. Having people and characters from all ethnicities, sexual orientation and identity, religions,... But saying Islam is okay with homosexuality is like saying vegans eat pork or christians don't accept Jesus as their lord and saviour.

The movie, Interview with the Vampire, has always been a fav. After the first episode, I immediately nearly forgot the movie and fell in love with Anderson's Louis and Reid's Lestat. Everything about Rolin Jones' interpretation feels right. The era change, the age differences for Claudia, having Louis be Black. Top notch story-telling so far. Looking forward to following this story.

What a travesty it is to watch Anne Rice's masterpiece about the very nature of a vampire reduced to nothing more than a weekly romp of "..._But I'm a black, gay vampire and no one understands me_...". It would be funny if it weren't so sad. Yes, the wokeness has come full circle. It's less about vampires and more about black gay men in the early 1900s. To make matters even worse - in every episode there is a subtle slight/attack on Anne rice's original work and now somehow this retelling is actually ... what happened...:joy::joy::joy:. The show and the acting are a complete and utter joke. But hey if you're into the retelling of classic works of literature turned into social mechanisms of the current age, then you will surely enjoy this. Knock yourself out.

1. They are vampires, it is Anne Rice of course there is going to be an LGBTQI+ theme. Vampiric sensuality, passion and blood and seduction games are not subject to Sexual Orientations as such, that has been done practically forever.

2. My recommendations, forget about racism and the change of skin because this actor is one hundred percent Louis, it is his personality, the characters at the moment are completely Anne Rice; there are three chapters and there is still a lot of cooking ahead, but for now it is highly recommended,

For me it's to soon to say if this is going to be a good show.
The story starts well and in my opinion at a good pace.
For me is the actors, both Louis and Lestat are in my opinion a bit weak, maybe it's because in my mind I still have Pitt and Cruise in mind.

Anyway I'm giving it a chance and see where this goes, hope more will do too.

Looks like a slow burn TV show. So far, I feel it's a good pace and hopefully will dive into the backstory of both characters. There is certainly chemistry between the two leads. I'm looking forward to the impending conflict between the master and his apprentice.
