this shitty clown scared the hell out of me when I was little. But the second part of the move with the spider is ridiculous...

@barrywhite123 Having just watched it again for the first time in at least a decade, I'm inclined to agree. The spider is absurd. That part really didn't translate over well from the book at all. But now I want to read the book again for the 25th time.

@barrywhite123 I think you really would have had to read the book to understand the spider. IT wasn't really a spider. IT is suppose to be one of the oldest creatures in the world that the human brain could not fathom in its natural state. IT was a being that the children had never seen before and the only thing that the human brain could relate that to was the image of a spider.

I was a wimp after this movie as a kid. I couldn't even think the word IT when I was in the dark at night because I thought he would come get me lol. Tim Curry was terrifying and should have won many awards.

Tim Curry is great as Pennywise. The ending is very silly and really doesn't fit well with the rest of the movie.

i read this book in the 6th grade, it changed my outlook on life. not sure why my teacher or parents allowed it, but i digress. the movie came out shortly after i finished and thought it barely scratched the surface of what was in the book. today it would have been a 4-6 episode mini-series of 1 hour each and that could have done it justice.

It is a terrifying tale of horror from bestselling author Stephen King. When the small town of Derry experiences a rash of killings, a group of childhood friends must return after nearly 30 years in order to face an ancient evil. The casting is pretty good, and includes Harry Anderson, Annette O'Toole, John Ritter, and Tim Curry; who all deliver great performances. However, it's Curry's charismatic and frightening depiction of Pennywise that makes this film so powerful and terrifying. Additionally, the storytelling is well done; crafting a number of intense and horrific scenes. Haunting and chilling, It is a nightmare brought to life.

Still disturbing, this is what made me hate clowns in the first place... so much better than the remake and much closer to the book which is also one of my favorites... if you haven’t you ought to read the book!

I know this movie is old. I will not compare effects when I saw this movie for the first time in 2018. But... this movie was so bad. Boring, actors were really bad and when you are watching a really long movie and story is so boring... well you are just talking to yourself: oh my glob, how long I have to watch this?

Like everyone else, this movie scared me so bad as a kid, specifically Pennywise, the clown. I decided to watch it recently, and I have to say some of it stands up well, while some stuff doesn't. The effects can be quite bad, especially at the end. The acting can be a little cheesy. The one scene that always makes me laugh is the one where Beverly starts throwing glass objects at her live-in boyfriend, but the thing that takes him down is a jar of lotion! Hilarious! Also, his slow-motion reaction is priceless.

The thing that is truly remarkable about this film is the acting of Tim Curry. You can't even identify him as Tim Curry, because he's so believable as this evil clown. The clown in the remake definitely isn't as scary. I think the scenes in the past with the kids are what stands out most, the present day actors could've been better.
