Recommended by Netflix after watching the last season of The Fall.
There's no comparison on any level. But I do like Finland and the Finnish language and the general setup of this type of series.
Deadwind "received strong reviews" it says on Wikipedia and has 7.1/10 on imdb.
Anyway, each country has its own way of story telling. That can make one story very different.
But to be honest, if I wouldn't like Finland, snowy land, or this kind of series, I wouldn't have _finished_ Deadwind.

The plot is surprisingly unfocused at times, trying to give the main characters some space to establish their background. Sadly, it adds nothing to the story, nor to the characters. It just slows the plot down.
The acting is simply terrible for the most part, except for our two main characters. They are fine, Viitala does a good job and is a likeable actress. Tilkanen isn't too bad either but it's hard to decide whether his character is just there to enable the plot progression or not.
Considering the end I lean towards the former.
But the rest are mostly people they could have gotten off the street five minutes before they started shooting.
Korpela and the actor for Usko specifically are awful. Dialogue is nonsensically childish or surreal. Things are said that would never be said in a real conversation but they are here to provide plot relevant information for the investigation. Way too much on the nose.
Rarely there are CGI effects but when there are you can see the budget is used elsewhere.
Some of the plot is nonsensical as well, leading literally nowhere (i.e. at the end, where the actual murderer kidnaps _them_, for instance).
If this is considered relatively "good", what is considered bad in Finland?
Genuine question. It's not the worst show, though. But not really worth your time.
