The show started so good... And it ended so unsatisfying!

My heart breaks for Mo-mi & Mi-mo ... this is the second attempt this year by Netflix Production targeting the shoddy beauty standards of the modern world (not just korea but more so there)

given the fact that i watched it over the span of two days when it normally takes me a month plus to finish a show i’d say it was quite good.. there were some parts that weren’t necessarily boring but that i just found hard to stay engaged. overall it was pretty good++ i loved the way it showed everyone’s perspective to get the full picture, additionally it wasn’t as bad as people made it out to seem

I’ll give it a 6.2, 6.3. A couple of good episodes but generally average plot. A show that can be missed, but when started, you will carry on watching.

Episode 1 and 2 were actually quite good/interesting.. but then it went completely off the rails.
The mother in episode 3 was over the top and her acting was just as bad. That episode is a clear 0/10.
We fast forwarded through episode 3.5, 4 and 5 before just packing it in.

Too bad because episode 1 and 2 were very much in the vein of Black Mirror.
2/10

This show turned out to be something i had not expected at all!! I thought this would be an exaggerated story about the toxic beauty standards we live in as women in this world today, also keeping in mind how bad it can be in Korea. But it turned out to be that and more! The whole murder case and suspense i did not expect, it was a rollercoaster to say the least. However I really enjoyed it, especially since I watched it with my sister and we engaged in a lot of convo during the show with opinions and thoughts of how we thought it would end.

Above all else, _**Mask Girl**_ is a fascinating cinematic exercise. It has a complex, multiple perspective narrative similar to great _**Rashomon**_. Haunting cinematography echos recent TV masterpiece, _**Better Call Saul**_. Its performance is uniformly perfect, ranging from young **Ye-seo Shin** as Mi-Mo, an astounding debut performance by **Han-byeo Lee** as Mo-Mi, **Hye-ran Yeom** as vengeful Kyung-ja, and everyone in between.

Its ambitions are not always executed perfectly, but one has to admire its scope. It is at times very funny, very violent, and very poignant. But it is never subtle, which maybe its main downfall. We can relate to every one of these flawed characters, but never feel sad at their misfortune and tragedy.
