I have mixed feelings about this show.

On one hand, it’s incredibly well made, well acted, historically accurate and entertaining.

On the other hand, it’s almost exploitative in its usage of these stories in order to entertain. Relatives and friends of victims are saying that this series is retraumatizing them, which to me doesn’t feel right. Whatever commentary or whatever the creators are trying to “teach” us with this series is completely overshadowed to me by the sheer entertainment value found in this show.

So while I can’t say I agree with the ideology and the making of this show itself, I will say it was a very fun watch for me, and even as a fan of serial killers and true crime, it shed new light on Jeffrey Dahmer for me that I wasn’t familiar with before. Definitely not for the faint of heart, though. Dahmer’s actions are truly horrendous, and they are shown pretty extensively here.

@c0br4one Not a LGBTQ show, in my opinion, as I think it's irrelevant to the story. Why do you consider this a LGBTQ show?

this show is definitely a slow burn, but Evan Peters makes it worth your wild with his amazing acting as Dahmer; the entire story is heartbreaking and terrifying.

Good show, unnecessary 2 final episodes, some bias and some "creative liberty" that changed the actual history. Bad taste when we consider that some victim families doesn't wanted this show to be aired.

I always liked Evan Peters but this puts him on a whole other level. Obviously Jeff Dahmer is dispicable but I'm captivated by his portrayal of him. This is on par with Charlize Theron in Monster.

And I always love seeing Richard Jenkins. He's just an all-round great actor.

@zxmbieunicxrn His voice is already so calm which suits Dahmer so well. And is it just me? I absolutely love Richard's acting as well.

it was a good show. It's hard for me to really say how accurate the portrayal was as I never really watched any documentaries on Dahmer, and I don't really care to. However the acting was great, the story was interesting.

the only issue I had was some of the embellishments made by the writers. I had to research some of the scenes to see if anything like it was ever reported. one scene displayed police officers making racist and threatening calls to the father of one of Dahmers victims. i couldn't find anything to confirm that narrative.

it's pretty obvious that the police officers that were called out to investigate a child found wandering naked through a building were incompetent and careless in their "investigation". The neglect led to the death of a 14 year old boy. This is verifiable, the additional scenes regarding the officers, unnecessary and complete malarkey from what I could gather. I believe when you're telling a story based on real events you should carefully choose your embellishments, they did so poorly and in bad taste here. For that reason, 7/10.

@essentialmindz must be one of those back the blue guys... Did you speak with the family in your need to investigate calls of racism? Interesting that this is what got your head spinning.

@bajah i like to think that people aren't fanning flames for the sake of fanning them, or for some personal/political agenda. From what I read about the families, they weren't too happy about the show coming out. They say every time a new show, movie, documentary comes out they are bombarded with phone calls and are forced to relive the nightmare. So no I didn't call the families, I searched on Google for any mention of a report of harassment of the victims. I didn't see anything to suggest that could have been the case.

Like everything in life there is good and bad, and plenty of shades in between. Not every police officer is good, not every police officer is bad. I said in my review those who investigated the scene were "incompetent and careless". At least in that very instant. For all I know they may have been exemplary in other case. But to make allegations like that, there should be some record of it, an interview, something. But hey we are all entitled to our opinions. I believe my assessment was fair.

I found this show seemed confused at times for what it was doing, and ultimately I’m left feeling a bit underwhelmed. Did this show was to make us feel sad for the victims and his family? Did it want us to know what happened? Did it want us to feel bad for Dahmer? Because that’s the direction it felt like it was going. Evan Petets does a phenomenal job with this and ultimately he really did his best with the source material, but so much of what we get from him and his scenes feels like a pity party for Dahmer. A lot of stuff that is important to the story was glossed over and we only get 3-4 victims to feel sorry for when there were 17. So many weren’t even mentioned.

Overall I mean it’s a good portrayal of the events and the show itself is beautifully shot but I think the purpose of the show is lost somewhere in these 10 episodes.

Evan Peters deserves an Emmy and psychological help after his performance.
Although the last two episodes felt like "fillers", the series portrayed perfectly the racism, xenophobia and homophobia present at that time.
Unfortunately, it remains something very present these days.

I was familiar with this serial killer going in and I've watched his interviews many times before, so I feel confident in saying that Evan Peters played the sh*t out of this character. The way he embodied this monster is truly impressive and I don't even want to imagine how that must have felt, to step into this man's skin like that.

IMO, the series does a great job of showing how truly sick/troubled Dahmer was, how much pain he caused to so many people, and how many lives he ruined. Overall, I think Ryan Murphy did well here. It's not an easy watch, but that's because the things Dahmer did are heartbreaking, enraging, and nauseating. So, mind your triggers.
