Margaret Hale is a southerner from a country vicarage newly settled in the industrial northern town of Milton. In the shock of her move, she misjudges charismatic cotton mill-owner John Thornton, whose strength of purpose and passion are a match for her own pride and willfulness. When the workers of Milton call a strike, Margaret takes their side, and the two are brought into deeper conflict. I did not see this drama and I did not read the book, so when I saw it I was surprised how romantic this drama is. If you feel like watching a romantic drama this is it. Loved it."Especially when he says " turn and look at me"

I recently rewatched this after a couple of years. I felt like I was able to understand the story more now. John Thorntons character is truly admirable for he is a self made man who cares for his workers and is a reasonable man. I honestly recommend watching this for John Thornton should not be missed. I must say this: Margret Hale's character wasn't my favorite. She did have some sort of character development but still. A bit of a spoiler that just makes the drama worth it: [spoiler] When John proposed to Margret, that scene is by far the most amazing proposal I have ever seen. The words he used we're just wow. [/spoiler]

i'm such a sucker for a good period drama. have to say though, lotta people had to die in order for these two to get a cheeky kiss.
