Welcome to "The Walking Dead" but with kaiju instead of zombies.

Animation's a bit dull, could have been hell lot better. Otherwise a decent one. Not saying anything about the story because it was just the beginning. Let's see what they show us in the future.

Good production value but weak characters. Couldn’t care less for any of the characters. Good background show. But don’t think it’s worth the high rating.

Like its predecessors, this series is flawed. Chocked full of cliches and bizarre choices, this australian adventure starts out on questionable ground. That's not to say its bad. Like the movies, it overcomes a lot of cheesiness and logical inconsistencies to be something that works, but it's in spite of those qualities, not because of them.

Fans are quick to overlook these short comings because, hey, we're here for the giant robots, but it's hard to argue that the series wouldn't be more worthwhile with some better character foundation and development. Especially since we really don't get all that much kaiju battling in the 7 episodes so far.

While the fantastical anime elements are new, one would hope the point of extending on 2 movies would be to spend less time world building. However, for now I'm optimistic about the established base the first season sets up. Thankfully, we're granted at least one more season, but we'll have to see how much of this actually pays off.

I was pleasantly surprised by this show. Aside from a few eh story and character decisions, I thought it was actually pretty solid. I kept expecting it to make the same boring mistakes of tv shows past, but mostly it didn’t.

A great anime for both diehard fans and the anime-curious as you don't have to be an "insider" as far as the mythology goes, as, it explains things as it goes along, yet there was enough mystery to keep you engaged. Yes, the CGI is different, but in a GOOD way, the voice talent is spot on, and, although the protagonists made some IMO boneheaded moves in many situations, I'll forgive them for being teenagers, isolated for 5 years, and not battle hardened tactical experts..., just YET.

As @Kain stated, the series does drag a bit between fight scenes, but, I think it was necessary to fill in the backstories of each character, and, for me was paced about right.

The "Boy" situation was pretty much telegraphed from the jump, seeing the situation he was discovered in, and his propensity for odd, very fresh snackos and nom noms.

The Bio-Mech Kaiju was very cool, and I hope we'll get to see more of him.

Awesome anime. The CGI style took a bit to get used to but it really works out well during the fight scenes.
There's a few dull moments in the story but plenty of exciting or shocking ones to keep you interested. It's not perfect but it's damn good for Netflix's standards.


I hope to see more combat in season 2 as season 1 was a little light on the action.

Typical Netflix garbage. To start, the subtitle is stupid. Then to continue the trend, we have bad/annoying characters and poor story development.

It's bad when the live action is better than the anime it is emulating. Pass.

If you want to see people make one dumb descision after another watch it, otherwise spare yourself the agony.
