Not sure if it's shitty writing, shitty acting or both...

overall really disappointing. i just found it predictable and the main female character was quite unlikable. wouldn't really recommend, there are much better british crime dramas out there.

It's just ok. It's not a must watch but it hasn't been a complete waste of time.

Haha this is exactly how I feel about it. S01E03 and I'm still watching because I like the humor. It's fine writing, beautiful locations, just not so exciting as a crime show.

I can feel a good mystery unwinding. Undertones of Luther, Happy Town, River and Unforgettable. That is easy to draw though, they are all Top Notch British Thrillers also.

The biggest crime of all was Detective Felber's haircut.

When they say people are more likely to bitch than give compliments, the 7 previous comments seem to meet that. Five kind of shred the show, but I found it great. The lead detective, yes, she's a mess, but that makes her more human. Phony people always seem out off by real people. Hell even character has very real flaws they have to face. The brother and his feeling of being burdened by his brothers problems, realizes how much he missed being the one to take care of his brother. The son facing his mother's issues. The mother facing her own. The idea the past might price at some future date that you misjudged a situation. The characters are fantastic. The twists and turns are really good also. There's a couple spots where I thought they could've written a little better, but minute issues. 9. solid 9.

Great to see Lesley Sharp and Robert Glenister giving the really fine performances they consistently give. I loved the twin investigation in Britain and Germany. The other actors were new to me, but I look forward to seeing more of their work. I enjoyed the interplay of reationships. And, although the "real culprit " was an unusual, and unanticipated, villain, I couldn't help feeling they were making a good case against the "culprit's" abuses (no spoilers, here). My only hesitation in giving this a higher rating is that I found it was lagging in the tension of suspense. In terms of a thriller, I found it a little flat. For me, it averaged out at an 7.5 (great-ish) out of 10.

A good crime-thriller that takes a while to develop its plot. The reason for this beeing a bit slow is that it takes the time to deal with the characters which gives them more depth which I think is a good thing.

It’s been about 3 weeks since I ingested this one and it occurs to me that it just wasn’t very memorable. I do remember being a bit bored and continually doing other things while getting through it. It just didn’t manage to hold my attention for very long. I’m trying quite hard but can’t really recall what actually happened in this past the intense premise that does manage to pull you right in. Well, not outside the narrative of who fancied who and the excitement around the drug Jesus. Their love lives were quite cute and fun to witness, but I really don’t think that aspect was meant as the main takeaway. Like, I don’t remember “who done it” but just “who done who.” I was also quite unimpressed with the whole “scandalous” sex pictures of the one woman and how that was such a big deal, because it really wasn’t. “Oh, I’m in my 50s and had interesting sex back in the day, I’m so ashamed. Please forgive me.” What?

I don't not recommend this, but I might recommend lowering any initial expectations and possibly not worrying about being fully engaged as you watch it.
