This show quickly grew on me. The way it blends comedy and heartfelt emotion is superb. So yes, Please Like Me... yes, I like you, I like you a lot. I like you so much I am sad that I have to wait for series 4.

I quite enjoy Josh Thomas's stand up and this series came to me highly recommended.

However, this show lacks the energy of a stand up routine so with long slow periods between jokes that aren't worth the wait. This is not a comedy. It is first and foremost a drama, but it's hard when there's no sense of direction. The story moments just seem to happen without appearing to fit within any story or character arcs.

For example, the series starts with the end of Josh's last heterosexual relationship. Is the story arc about how he finds a new relationship? Nope. Next story beat
he gets a boyfriend. Is the story arc about how he (and the people around him) cope with the realisation that he's gay? Nope. A couple quick jokes and everyone (Josh included) immediately accepts his homosexuality.
Every time it appears like an interesting arc is being set up, it immediately fizzles out.

It lost my interest half way through the first episode, and although I endured watching until the end of the second episode, I was not rewarded for my persistence.

While slow at points this series speaks to me as a bisexual male in a mlm relationship in ways that no other show has and normalises a lot of things previously foreign to me and for that this show is amazing. Definitely interested in seeing Josh Thomas live at some point in the future

you know the feeling when you read a summary for something, tv show, movie or book, and then you actually watch it or read it, and it's always better or worse that you expected after reading a summary, but always so different than you expected? Please like me is a definition of that. I had it at my to watch list for years, but I read the summary, and it seems so cheesy and predictable and remind of a sitcom, and I'm not really a sitcom person. I didn't really think it's for me. And now I'm just mad at myself, for wasting so much time without watching this. Because it's a brilliant show. Josh Thomas is genius. It's funny but also sad at times, sometimes it's really weird, but that make this so original, and had all that life wisdom, which hurt sometimes (but in good way). I think I find one of my favourite forever tv shows, and I probably would rewatch it many, many times. Because there's nothing quite like that.

I am not even sure why I enjoyed this show so much. Maybe it is because it feels so normal, even with all its craziness. The ending was so sad … why was the last season just so immensely sad. I think I fell in love with Arnold just a little bit myself.
What a shame that the story ended after season 4—I would have loved following their lives some more.

I hadn't even heard of this show until a few days ago when I was looking for shows with gay characters. Anyway, it was really great,
even if I kind of figured how it would end from the start. (spoiler tags just to be safe)
I can only describe this show as 'perfectly awkward'. I adore how it skips across the balance beam of comedy and drama, depicting some incredibly realistic situations and life events that range from hilarious to depressing, without wallowing in either of them. This is not a tearjerker about depression, or a rofl-comedy, but that perfect sardonic middle where all characters are both likeable and flawed.

Showrunner, writer, and lead Josh Thomas has said it is based on his own life. Although his unique voice was a bit of a hurdle at first, I quickly warmed to his, and other characters. Give it a few episodes at least :)

I feel conflicted about the ending. There were loose ties but that's how I like them.

I wish there was more of Claire.

I desperately didn't want them to break up Ella and Tom. I was desperately hoping Rose wouldn't die. But that's just how it is.

As a gay asexual, I will continue to be weirded out by the fast paced propositions of gay allosexuals. But that is realistic and something I should learn.

This is a lovely series and now that I have completed it, I don't know what to do. It is validating but there is just some portion that fails to make it completely relatable for me. But absolute genius!
