Looks absolutely incredible... Wish they didn't show me a baby T-Rex being eaten 2 minutes into episode one though.

Photorealism and nothing else. Scenery often feels fake af and variety is low. And if you dont give me some hard sience facts or theories i dont want to look at the same dinosaur for 20 minutes just because they look nice.

it's honestly mind blowing what vfx is capable of. really immersive and interesting. plus if you're a millennial, look forward to googling things while you go "idk that sounds fake" and finding out that way more has changed than just some dinos having feathers. like wtf new zealand is part of a submerged CONTINENT

Wow, everything feels very natural.
It's a great documentary and the explanation is excellent.
If you haven't watched this show yet, please watch it.
It's very interesting.

Oh, it's just too childish and ridiculous. The special effects are terrible, especially when one dinosaur eats or attacks another. It's really difficult to not think it's all bollocks, you have to make an strenuous effort. Jurassic Park is more believable. Not even David Attenborough can save this disaster.

Presents Cretaceous fauna in a new light compared to any documentary I've tuned in to before, but not in the most captivating one. Turns out I didn't really want to know about dino mating habits (does anyone?). It made me sad when they skipped a T-Rex hunt of a Triceratops–only showing the aftermath–in favor of it finding a female to hump.

This is amazing ! Despite the fact you know it's CGI you can easily pretend this is real. Some of the scenes look so natural. And Attenborough narrating it just like the real thing completes the picture.

So, whether you like dinosaurs or nature in general - you should definately watch this..

I Rank that at 3rd best among Dinosaur Documentries:
No. 1 - Walking With Dinosaurs (BBC One 1999)
No. 2 - Planet Dinosaurs (BBC One 2011)
No. 3 - Prehistoric Planet (Apple TV 2022)

Just didn't find it credible enough to watch. Effects look great, but they just don't pass for real animals in this format.

Seemed to be missing the science behind each episode. Eg how did they know that a large dinosaur would do a dance to attract a mate waving it's tiny dinosaur arms? Did they just base it off bird dances or was there some science missed?

Everyone knows the best part of Star Wars is when there are weird little creatures fucking around in the background. Prehistoric Planet has the sagacity to ask, "What if dinosaurs were like that?"

I love dinosaurs and I take everything I can get, however this was quite boring. My wife fell asleep every episode. feels like the same few dinosaurs in every episode over and over again, those you see in the trailer are the ones you'll see in the tv series.
lots of stuff was very hard to believe (like, how could anybody know how mating rituals might have worked) but there was no scientific backing or anything to substantiate the claims. it might all be true but why not tell me HOW we know that today??
The same "intro" every episode was also kind of weird. At first I thought I chose the wrong episode.
Also, the "1 climate zone per episode" style was IMHO not the best choice. I would have liked an overview of dinosaurs, types, time eras and so on. More like "cosmos" with Neil deGrasse Tyson did it, "scientific".

nice cgi but the "stories" dont feel realistic and sometimes are just stupid. I am not a fan of storytelling for animals. The science facts are most of the time no facts. Stay with the things you know. And if you dont know it, dont invent something what a human would do. Also its often boring. Nice for someone who cant find sleep.

1st dinosaur doc I've seen where the CGI stuff didn't scream CGI. Not even whispered. Really beautiful stuff to see. Must see.

Visually stunning, but a complete swing and a miss on the format. It doesn't actually tell you any new dino science, instead sitting on a level your average 8 year old dino enthusiast would know. The first 3 episodes taught us "t rex big, t rex hunt" and "pterosaurs flew around and mated" - the only big shakeup on screen from "popular" knowledge of dinosaurs, was the feathered Velociraptor.

It would have been much more interesting to have each period of history (there's 150 million years between the emergence of some of the dinosaurs shown!) which dinosaurs were active, the state of the world (fauna, climate) how they adapted to that, why you got large dinos before the small ones, etc.
