**The Good:**

Aden Young and Gloria Garayua make for a very grounded, unusually well-oiled working couple. I do like Young’s laid-back take on his character and the slightly more nuanced performance given by Garayua.

The family drama is significantly more interesting than the investigation, which barely moves forward until the final third of the series.

The level of tension grows sufficiently during the last third, once the two sides steadily move closer to each other and finally clash.

----

**The Bad:**

The plot is so mundane initially that it takes a while before it feels worthwhile to invest time in.

The acting is subpar from time to time, particularly with the younger actors.

Considering how the fact that we know who the killer is from the beginning is the entire point of this series, the plot does surprisingly little with the concept.

They could have built up to an explosive finale, but the last episode just falls flat and feels very unsatisfying.

Reckoning has one of the strangest, most disappointing endings to any crime series I’ve ever watched.

**The Ugly:**

Come again?

----

**VERDICT:**

_A surprisingly grounded and disappointingly slow crime drama, ultimately felled by wasted potential and an unsatisfying conclusion._
