Yeah that was... not it. Clunky story, characters don't really manage to have much nuance (also due to clunky dialogue). We had character arcs but they were largely dragged out. I enjoyed the cuts from Kawata, Juny and Nagata but production-wise this is just a huge mess. The art direction is absolutely terrible, off-model shots everywhere and you can see how due to the improper implementation of webgens AD and ED barely were able to get behind the entire workload.

Eight episodes in, and I'm wondering where the story is. In a vacuum this anime could be good, but compared to Monty's original creation, it's very mediocre. There's none of the world- and character building that the original had. Story spoilers: [spoiler]Most of this anime's story happens in Weiss Schnee's dreamscape, after she got infected by a Grimm. Team R(W)BY has to conquer Weiss' inner demons and free her mind from the Grimm's infection. This would've been a great arc for Weiss if we got to know her first, and if it wasn't drawn out over an entire season. I can only hope the story picks up eventually and the great team behind this anime gets to shine.[/spoiler]
