This show is incredibly stupid and bad. But somehow it became a guilty pleasure for me.
It's so bad but at the same time in a way that it is entertaining to watch, just not how it was intended to be.
This show must have the most plotholes I have ever seen in a TV series.
If this wouldn't air on a major network like CBS it'd be cancelled after 3 episodes max despite the really, really low production costs that it must have, I suppose.
But since it's on CBS it got a full first season order of BS technobabble making no sense and characters so unlikable and sterile that I don't care for a single person and wonder how they made it through life so far. Not to speak of the positions they literally fell in.
Katharine McPhee (Paige, the waitress) is the only exception and good "feature" of this series.
Not because she is such a great actress, haven't seen enough of her to judge on that, but being the only halfway reasonable person on this awful cast of awful actors makes her the only likable person, in a way.
It's helping that she is cute, too.

I could go on and rip the premise and every episode apart and make fun of its absurd plots, terrible reasoning, repetitive and dumb dialogues but others did that already well enough.
Although being very nit-picky when it is about technology and terminology, that is basically raped on this show on a regular basis, my biggest pet peeve isn't within the above-mentioned.
Surprisingly it is with the blatantly wrong use of HTML syntax in the opening.
You have the maincharacter narrating that he has a higher IQ than Einstein and is one of the four people with the highest IQ on earth but it is subtitled with stuff like </starring> following the "stars". Ugh.
This contradiction is seriously annoying me and shows the technical and intellectual precision that this show has to offer throughout.

Rating it a two. lol<br /> If you don't like how they do it, but still call it your guilty pleasure. Okay? Why can we only like other peoples comments, and not dislike them. <br /> I'm not a tech geek, I'm in it for the relationships. Happy and Toby, just waiting for something to happen again.

Seems like you don't know the meaning of "guilty pleasure". There's pleasure in all kinds of things, for all kinds of reasons, you should know, after watching Sam &amp; Cat 1x20 or Date Movie. :D<br /> My pleasure is laughing at the ridiculousness of the hilariously stupid plots they sell to their audience and how low they can stoop it next time and how it is accepted, even though it shouldn't be my pleasure, hence "guilty". That doesn't make this show any good whatsoever, because it isn't. It is terrible. It's the typical "car accident you can't look away from"-thing for me.<br /> The only good thing I can see is that they try to bring the brainless cinema action flick timewaster to television and they do succeed here greatly and negative "press" is still press. But again, doesn't make this show any good.<br /> You are apparently in for the awkward and terrible relationship drama this show is actually not about in the first place.<br /> So, why shouldn't I rate it a 2? The rating system goes from 1-10, not 5-10 and I use it as such because I don't think a 5 or 6 automatically means bad like the majority these days does. ;)<br /> Just because you obviously take offense in how I rate doesn't make you superior to decide what I can and cannot rate it and how to think of this show. If you wanna rate it higher like 2x06, where we couldn't be further away in opinion, there's nothing I care to do against it. So do yourself a favor and come off your high horse and let people raise their own opinions, instead of critizing them in your own comments of shows / movies. ;)

@ds1<br /> I'm with u in this latest comment. Good explaination of what matters about a quality of a show, also about the rating system. Someone's even only have 7-10 ratings. So I don't wonder that most shows/episodes are 70%++, even 80%++, no matter how good, bad, boring or terrible these shows really are - objektive+subjektive.<br /> Some people have fear by voting sth low. Sometimes I think "What, people like that shit??? Half of my watched stuff is better! Is this the only show they know?" U don't need to be a tech geek to dislike the show, there is noch tech geek stuff in scorpion! Scorpion is just a bad show in all aspects.<br /> <br /> But it's all the same with the same bad and boring stuff again and again. Mainstream is casual, brings more viewers, buyers, more money. The same in movies, series, games - it's no art anymore, it's a money orientated industry. (e.g. games: it's all about selling graphics, with the same stupid and boring gameplay over and over again.) Most people don't know it better, are brainwashed, they only know stuff from the mainstream, big companies with big marketing. On this thinking and on this way the better stuff they will never know - never. They are controlled, and not even realizing it. They will never experience "Why i liked these shows, there is so much better stuff out there."<br /> I mean, she looks cute, and like every woman likes the relationship drama in series/movies more than a guy, that's normal. But even "the simpsons" has better relationship elements than "scorpion". Imo i dont watch a terrible show just because i like an actor/actress. There are so much better shows out there to spend my time on. Even for Emelia's genre favours time is spend better on better shows, and there are alot.<br /> <br /> Dein letzter Satz war ihr gegenüber jedoch etwas zu harsch. Sie ist noch jung und muss noch viel lernen.

Fear is most likely a factor of rating rather higher than lower in public. You've always have to consider the lower you rate the higher the probability of someone bitching about your rating, or you having to explain in detail why you rate that low. Even though it's your own rating based on your opinion and not an attempt at dictating how others have to rate it as well. Something many people seem to think when they see a rating they do not agree with.<br /> While for higher ratings basically no-one questions your rating, maybe laughs in secret at you but that's that. I think that is very odd in human behaviour.<br /> But at the other hand, many people - if not all - are too lazy to be bothered searching for the "good" stuff and take in whatever is thrown at them and build their knowledge around that, in other words: the best advertised. At some things I am no exception there either and aren't one to blame anyone for it. But I'd argue that adds to higher ratings in general, too and overlooking gems like [Forever](https://trakt.tv/shows/forever-2014), or [iZombie](https://trakt.tv/shows/izombie). Or simply replacing something not outstanding but not bad like [Almost Human](https://trakt.tv/shows/almost-human) with something lackluster like [Minority Report](https://trakt.tv/shows/minority-report) because the *name* sells better.<br /> <br /> Den letzten Satz habe ich hinterher wohlüberlegt reineditiert als ich ihre anderen Kommentare gelesen habe, die vor passiv-aggressivität, Heuchelei und herablassender Arroganz nur so strotzen. Mir ist der harsche Ton da bewusst, aber es ist sehr schwierig nicht so harsch aber doch deutlich zu sein. ;) Aber ich gebe dir Recht, sie muss noch viel lernen, den Eindruck erweckt sie auch bei mir.

This show is like a modern day Macguyver without any of the charisma. It's good background noise and there are always laughs at how absurd the plot gets. I don't think it takes itself very seriously and it's not boring, so it's on my watchlist.

@ds1 hahhhaaaha Perhaps they talk in the serial about science a lot and you do not understand the true production budget is weak but a fun and wonderful series and personalities led the role is about scientists do not deal with the community and a lot of humanity

@zahraa55555 Don't I say that the show supposedly must have really low production costs? But that's no excuse for a terrible show. But yeah, they do succeed to get views with very low effort that way. Soo, good for them, right?<br /> Although, after 4 seasons there were some higher budget episodes in this due to the money they were able to cash in.<br /> For the other stuff, I am not sure what you're trying to say.

I both love and hate this show. I LOVE the whole idea/concept of it. It makes me laugh when smart people try to say it's a biography. It's entertainment - a story that was created, then manipulated by the network to try and get the highest amount of ratings to fill the Board's pockets with million dollar incentives for showing up once a month at a board meeting. I hate that the network is either trying to dumb it down for a bigger audience or the actual script words aren't well created. The ideas and concepts are good. Sometimes it feels like the people who make the words in between are in a hurry and really don't care. Big Bang Theory has GREAT scripts and all the words count. I feel with all the great acting talent they have in this show, the quality of words to tell the story needs to come up a bit. The whole "will they or won't they" thing with Walter and Paige has also gotten way too old. Every one of the main story lines they're creating have great merit and would be fine with a little positive sprinkle of Walter and Paige coming together. All the "yes they can, no they can't" is the oldest, most boring plot mechanic in serial TV. I frequently think writers in Hollywood are incapable of writing relationships. Doing the cheap "will they, won't they" just seems lazy. Enough please. Pull up your big boy pants and let Walter and Paige slowly get into a relationship they can both learn to accept and become a role model of relationships for Paige's son. Stop making it about when they're going to jump in bed. This show has a cast well worthy of excellent words and deserves the opportunity to prove how great the show can be.

While I respect other people's opinions about the accuracy and stupid plot holes (pilot ep, not landing the plane manually, etc)... This is a Hollywood entertainment show, with the emphasis on entertainment.

So,
a) you have to create a crisis
b) you have to make up situations that create drama and suspense
c) it needs to be exciting

If you went down the road of technically correct and 100% realistic, you might as well call it a documentary and cancel the show... because 90% of TV watching people want entertainment and suspense, not realism.

I find myself in the following situation. I can call BS on 90% of the stuff in the show, much like pretty much every other successful show(CSI, Fringe, Mentalist, etc) but I don't. It's not SUPPOSE to be real.

The reality of Airport control software and how a failure would be handled is boring in real life.
The reality of how a biological attack on a senators daughter would be handled is boring to the point of tears
The reality of bringing down the Internet, and getting rid of all evidence of an e-mail contents would equally be dull as watching paint dry.

I much prefer suspending disbelief (like we do when we watch sci-fi series) and simply enjoying the suspense, action and FICTIONAL plot which does not have to make sense. If that's not something you are capable of, then this show might not be the right fit for you.

Wow. George Orwell would have a field day having you around I'm sure: I have never read such a complicit, "I will obey and suspend my entire thought process", review, as yours. I'm glad YOU enjoy it, but, it makes no sense to try and demand other people should do the same.<br /> <br /> You might be able to switch off your beliefs, suspend your criticism and you might not find stupid plots, strange character behaviour, and impossible stories annoying. But many people, including me, do. In fact, it's insulting the viewer's intelligence, and if that's not bad enough already, here comes mr. or mrs. Gladly Obey, telling us to shut up.<br /> <br /> Astounding to say the least, and your review is the most insulting review I have read on Trakt so far, so, at least you have that going for you. In light of that, it's typical how you start your comment by saying "I respect other people's opinions" because, obviously, you don't.

Sadly, replies can't be liked on trakt, I'd really want to like drumnugget's reply. :'(<br /> <br /> Someone got the definition and meaning of suspension of disbelief very wrong.<br /> It doesn't apply on plots that make no sense, by the way. With or without suspension of disbelief such plots still make no sense.<br /> With the presented logic you could dismiss every valid criticism towards any show no matter how bad it is. Resulting in no improvments ever.<br /> However, plots really have to make sense, even in fiction, at least in the presented universe.<br /> <br /> To be honest, your post comes off as very shortsighted, ignorant and condescending.

Scorpion was a very cheesy, very entertaining show about a group of geniuses saving the day in every episode!

I was gutted that they cancelled the show, and even more disappointed with how they left it. There so many new episode ideas that could happen; like saving Britain and get knighted by the Queen, preventing the secret to time traveling from falling into the wrong hands, and maybe even a crossover with Lethal Weapon (if that hadn't been cancelled as well)!

I really enjoyed watching the whole series of Scorpion.
