I tried to enjoy it as much as I could but it just wasn't that good; only a few episodes were truly funny but the rest is just blah and too hard to sit through. I just don't see what the hype is all about and I thought I was the only one but apparently there are others that think Seinfeld is overrated, it really is. I just watched the final episode of the third season and finally decided to drop it.

@nimnz I suppose that the show can get quite repetitive after a few seasons, I don't remember very well... I watched it for the first time a little over 10 years ago (I was around 20yo) and found the show so good that I watched all seasons in full, even though there were a few episodes that I had to force myself to watch.

Some shows can only be truly appreciated during "their time", which is not the case here, at least not for me since I enjoyed it during mid 2000's. I guess that for me I went at it with no expectation and with an underdeveloped sense of humor that felt tickled by the kind of humor put forward by Seinfeld. Also, like most things, it's a matter of taste/opinion - and even those are subject to change over time. As an example, something that often happens to a lot of people: you watched a movie several years ago and you remember enjoying it very much, but years later you watch that movie again and somehow it either sucks or doesn't meet the expectations you had from your earlier fond memories.

@ner0p I agree. That's why I couldn't force myself to watch it because I actually want to enjoy it. So, naturally, I had high expectations since I've been hearing people talk about how awesome it is, but when I started watching it I was shocked, maybe _it is good_ but not as good as I expected and that's why I wasn't able to truly enjoy it.
Even though I dropped it now, I think one day I might change my mind and pick up where I left and enjoy it because my sense of humour would have changed and grown accustomed to such humour by then.

Starts poorly. If it wasn't for its immense popularity, I wouldn't have given it another go; and I am so glad I did, because somewhere in season 2 or starting with season 3 it became very good. This is a great sitcom with no weak season (besides the first one or two). There is no drop in quality anywhere, and it ends well.

If I had to choose between Seinfeld and Friends, I'd always go Seinfeld.

seinfeld = 10/10 in comedy nd 8.5/10 in story
friends = 9.5/10 in story nd 8/10 in comedy

so seinfeld is the winner here for me

after watching friends i thought i would never get chance to see a show tht can compete with friends !! but no i was wrong after watching Seinfeld i can proudly say tht in friends vs seinfeld i wiuld vote for seinfeld

A great watch, but far-cry from being best sitcom let alone best show ever.
i really liked kramer, and then jerry.
Also show is extremely repetitive and took "Not taking show seriously" A little too serious.

If you are new to Seinfeld, don't judge it on seasons 1-2, they take a bit to catch their stride.

Heteronormativity, sexism and gender norms. The series are full of that :)

This is the pièce de résistance of sitcom.

Is there a greater character created for television that can rival George Costanza? Okay, maybe one... Homer, but that's it.

It doesn't just stop at George though. The characters are what makes this show (obviously), and their nuances to certain situations. Even the 'straight man' Jerry has his quirks that make him stand out. While I would agree that a little something is missing once Larry David leaves, it is still very satisfying and the worst episode of Seinfeld is still better than most other sitcoms.

I'm a sucker for meta, and this show is uber meta. Love that. It's premiss of 'a show about nothing' is ultimately what sets it above everything else. There is no character development, there is no learning, the reactions of the characters are real for this world that David and Seinfeld have created, at no point during the series did I feel, that character wouldn't react the way that they did. They're real, and they're spectacular.
