What a great surprise. The marketing fell WAY short of explaining the true brilliance of this show. The premise is an affair, yes, but the way they explore memories and how actions have consequences is the show's true intentions.

p.s. I love how each of their stories start off fairly similar with small differences such as what each character is wearing. But near the end the differences in story become dramatically different.

@itswilder this show is so beautifully balanced and paced. Refreshing really, given the breakneck speed of many other shows at the moment. Totally absorbing narratives.

**Am I missing something huge?**

It feels like there should be a point or something, but all I see are plain stories with some poor attempt to make deep meanings.

I'm on episode 7 of the first season, and if this is it, I'm done with this series.

I do enjoy acting very much and the scoring is very unique and interesting. However, it's far from enough to get me through any more episodes.

I think this is the most boring series I've ever watched. Due to it's popularity, I'm convinced I'm missing the point. It's progressing painfully slow, and barely anything happened the first three episodes.

Will it get better? Am I missing the point? Anyone?

__I didn't rate this because I only watched the first 7 episodes__

SO BORING

Main storyline quality: 1/10
Originality: ?/10

Side storylines quality: 1/10

Hi @strauman, This is sad that you missed the point of this story and series.
the way I understand it is that there is the point of vue of each main character (from Noah or Ellen or Cole and Alison) then you relive the same event with a different vue and at last what really happened.
you stopped watching when you realised what it is about and the result of the investigation.
...and... spoiler...
This is the story of Noah's book, the parts are actually the book then the end lead to Noah real life.
I hope I make sense.

@strauman good start, interesting idea, but becomes too boring by the end of the first season. 5 seasons?! No way!

@strauman Season 1 was a struggle, so slow, uninteresting and boring. Season 2 got better, still too slow. Season 3 a slow train wreck... Season 4 again uninteresting and boring... even one of the main characters gave up on it. Season 5 will probably be more of the same BS.

This show started off slow for me but quickly caught my attention. Besides all the sex and the main affair, there are seriously messed up story lines that want to make you cry at times. Pretty sad seeing this woman's life fall apart. Great show so far!! I'm really hoping they bring it back for a second season.

I have enjoyed very much the first season and I will wait impatiently the second season (and the third and final, because their creators want to make a trilogy). Thank to Showtime, Sarah Treem, Hagai Levi and the breathtaking crew, cast and writers who have made possible this great show, in particular to Ruth Wilson. She deserves the Emmy for Best Actress this year. Her performance is flawless, realistic and emotional.

This series is not about an simple "affair", it is about how love can change everything and not always for the welfare of the characters.

@nightperseida - Stop! That’s as good as it gets!
The 4th season has lost the total thread!

@bazzjaz if you enjoy ‘foreign films’ , give ‘Broken Embraces’ a whirl. It’s great storytelling.
Penelope Cruz is great in this role!

Also give ‘Elegy’ a try, also with Penelope Cruz.
Some great human situations.

This series gets a lot of attention, and I've stayed away from it based on it's title and because I find it hard to watch a show that has no redeemable characters, or even a compelling struggle of character. However, I like the work of both Dominic West and Ruth Wilson (who both had to shed their accents for these roles) and with Maura Tierney and Joshua Jackson in supporting roles, I was convinced to take the plunge. My fears were realized. Although Wilson's character is complex, there was no moral centre to the inner personal conflict, so there was no real drama that interested me. After 3 episodes I've abandoned the series, giving it a 5 (meh) out of 10.

@nancy-l-draper I just read the other comments on Trakt.tv and I may have been overly hasty. I may give it a couple more episodes, for the sake of the diverging perspectives of each of the two lead characters.

This show was absolutely incredible! I never knew what was going to happen next. The way they ended the series couldn't have been better! I love Hellen! I really connected to her character! But all the characters were amazing! The actors and actress' really outdid themselves on this film. I could defiantly see myself rewatching this in the future.

For me only Cole is somewhat interesting. The others annoy me. Mostly Noah.
