From the Executive Producer Robert Redford, THE AMERICAN WEST tells the story of the aftermath of the CIVIL WAR and how the United States transformed into the “land of opportunity" spanning the years 1865 to 1890. Transporting into the violent world of cowboys, Indians, outlaws and law men, the story chronicles the personal, little-known stories of Western legends such as Jesse James, Billy the Kid, Wyatt Earp, Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull. Whether or not this is historical accurate, and I 've read a lot of comments claiming it isn't, this really isn't a tale of heroism or gallantry for the most part. Even though they try to sell it that way. The production value also isn't very high. There is a massive re-use of scenes over and over again. The acting scenes aren't that great either. And it seems you just need to had a role in a Western to be considered an expert.
