Based on the novel by JK Rowling, the mini series is an average british drama. Though they decided to whitewash bits and pieces, and completely erase parts of the story that I most enjoyed in the book it's still worth checking out.

It's alright. It's a nice, rather calm short series based on a novel by JK Rowling. While it is said that the novel is supposed to be funny at times, the series isn't really. There are uplifting scenes but nothing really funny. A story is told filled with some intrigues about a Spa. Yes, it sounds probably more boring than it actually is, it's more of the overall arc everything spins around. But on the other hand you can't expect some intense, great story here. Some terrible decisions at the end to conclude character arcs included, if feels a bit like coming of age stories do. Although this couldn't be farther away from being one. Worth your time? Perhaps. Necessary to watch? Nah.

The show tried very hard to have a villain and they ended up taking a very strong story that talks about major topics of modern society (racism, clasism, drugs and the responsability of society as a whole, social services, poverty, family, coming of age and being a kid/teen in a mostly broken world) and made it about a pretty annoying old lady who wants to live in a world she can control. And that's about it. The characters were week and pretty plain, and they were not strong enough to show a pretty shocking ending that would have left the viewer asking some very difficult and hard questions. Not so worth it.
