They bought rights to the name, but contains very little from the original. There's also the new plot element in which there are many possessed characters, not just the girl -- so it's more like a zombie story than the exorcism of a single demonic possession. Very similar plot to "Outcast" on Cinemax -- 2 guys dealing with a zombie-devil infestation. Would rather have seen an expanded limited event series, maybe 8 episodes, based on the original book. Instead, an endless supply of demon-zombies for a repetitive story that doesn't end until the series is cancelled... More looking forward to Blatty's upcoming publication "The Exorcist For The 21st Century" featuring an original and never before published adaptation for a new miniseries of Blatty's classic novel.
