In a city of the dead, long since ruined and far from human civilization, lives a single human child. His name is Will, and he's being raised by three undead: the hearty skeletal warrior, Blood; the graceful mummified priestess, Mary; and the crotchety spectral sorcerer, Gus. The three pour love into the boy, and teach him all they know. But one day, Will starts to wonder: "Who am I?" Will must unravel the mysteries of this faraway dead man's land, and unearth the secret pasts of the undead. He must learn the love and mercy of the good gods, and the bigotry and madness of the bad. And when he knows it all, the boy will take his first step on the path to becoming a Paladin.

The story is engaging. The hero is powerful without being overpowered. We follow his journey from birth to the completion of his mission. :warning: **WARNING** :warning: The big problem with this story is that it's clearly not finished. The Light Novel (2016) ends at volume 5, which corresponds to the end of season 2 of the Anime. The Manga (2017), on the other hand, ends at the same point, but is not marked as a finished work. Either the story is completely finished (7 years after the last publication of the light novel), or the author will only continue with the manga (last publication: September 2023)? If the anime/story ends after season 2, it remains an unfinished work for me.

The show sits at a 7.5 for me so I had to round it up to an 8. It could've been a solid 8 had the animations not been so bad outside of a handful of episodes (starting episodes and half of an episode towards the end). They must've have passed it off to the animation C-team. Will, the story, the characters kept me wanting to see more and episode 5 was a tear-jerker (again, for me).

The Faraway Paladin has its three first episodes explain to you the deep lore of this world, why you should care about it and how amazing it can be.

Then it becomes a disaster, it destroys any possible interest you could have with the world and characters, the scenarios from beautiful landscapes More
