We meet Riley(mentioned in episode 1) and learn that she is likely the first person Ellie cared about (romantic or not).<br /> 6. We see that despite all the aforementioned information by the officer in charge Ellie is still a rule breaker. <br /> 7. We learn without a doubt fedra and the firefly’s are enemies(implied before but outright said here with talk of training to kill the fireflies and blowing up fedra).<br /> 8. We get to see what is most likely Ellie seeing her first dead body. <br /> 9. We got to see her act like a kid and drink with her friend. <br /> 10. We get to see Ellie hold a gun for the first time. <br /> 11. We get to see how fedra treats (starving) and lies (why the mall sealed off) to the general population.<br /> 12. We see what people valued (looted) when the outbreak started. <br /> 13. We got to see how dystopian it really is that she’s never experienced “5 wonders” escalator, carousel, photo booth, video games and the Halloween store. <br /> 14. We learn Firefly’s have liberated other QZs (perhaps hinted with the buildings they found in episode 6 With the firefly labs).<br /> 15. We learn where Ellie got her book of puns that she’s been sharing with Joel and why it’s important enough for her to keep it. <br /> 16. We learned of their lack of knowledge of technology (not knowing what screenshots are.).<br /> 17. We learn of Ellie’s distrust and distain for the fireflies. <br /> 18. We learn that Marlene declined to let Ellie join the fireflies when Riley asked. <br /> 19. We learn more about Ellie’s lack of family (mentioned episode 1).<br /> 20. We see Ellie ask Riley not to go to which she agrees. <br /> 21. We learn ellie is gay and Riley reciprocates her feeling (this seems to be the only point you did focused on). <br /> 22. We see her fight and kill her first infected. <br /> 23. We get to see how Ellie got her bite which lead to find out she was immune. <br /> 24. We see Ellie think she’s going to die. <br /> 25. We see that Riley got bitten as well which is likely her first experience with loss (the one she is relating to with Joel over the loss of his daughter Sarah in episode 6) <br /> 26. @nxsxs Amazing that you went to the trouble of writing 28 points in your doctoral thesis there ignoring the fact that NONE of those are integral to the plot of the original TLOU that this show is supposed to be telling at this point. Nothing from Ep 3 was relevant as well. Interesting that you point out that the original author has no problem watching gay themes before, but now he must be a bigot because he no longer carries the same opinion as you. Or maybe, Ep 3 and 7 have nothing to do w the story of Joel and Ellie and that's that. Bad storytelling is bad storytelling, gay or not. And your response to another user's critique by stalking the user's history to try and call him a hypocrite is not a valid argument. You truly excel in ad hominem.

@technigeneric it was no trouble to do so, It’s far from a doctoral thesis. lol This is the digital age with devices at our finger tips, I was most likely multitasking on the web already, or playing on my phone while watching tv, heck I could have been taking a dump.<br /> <br /> Are you saying you want the story to be the same as the game ? If so, I feel like it would be point less to watch it then.<br /> <br /> I think video game’s structure is different than a televisions show’s structure. As in video games they are structured to give the player something to do while telling a story. <br /> <br /> I feel television shows are just focused on the story. If they just focused on the story from the game it’d likely be a mini series as the story would be much shorter, unless they included all the infected encounters and I feel like that’d get repetitive and old real quick. I feel it’d still unlikely they would have enough to create a series out of.<br /> <br /> Being as it’s a series they are also going to run out elements from the original story eventually anyways. I’d rather they sprinkle in new stuff in now so they can stretch out the elements from the original story long enough to build the world and characters so that they can survive outside of the confines of the original story.<br /> <br /> I can see your points about episode 3. Especially when looking at it from a video game lens, it could have easily be a side quest/story or optional DLC. I had issues with episode 3 as well. @hoaxr A lot of people commented and rated the show prematurely. It did not live up to the expectation that many, including myself, had for it. It wasn't terrible though. I rated it a 7 and I believe that's fair.

this series is based on the Last of us game. it literary shows the events in the game. If its not to your liking fine. But it really does a good job of displaying the story.

Of course it has negative emotions, it shows an apocalyptic outbreak that kills/turns almost all of humanity, did you expect rainbows and kittens?
