If we consider the historical research and costume details, Ma Boyong's drama is quite enjoyable. In the first half, it establishes a lookout system and a grand style based on historical facts, creating a strong sense of time travel.

However, the portrayal of the African-American underground city leader is off-putting due to the mismatched lip-sync.

The protagonist's patriotic sentiments seem a bit forced for someone in their thirties. I really like Xiaogui, but his crying seems peculiar, and the plot development is somewhat forced.

In terms of acting, I even feel that Yiyang Qianxi's performance is stronger than Lei Jiayin's. I dislike excessive male chauvinism and the exaggerated attitude displayed, which feels out of place. People don't talk like that in real life.

Yuan Zai's acting is good, but the story lacked a proper ending. The eunuch character was well done, as was Lin Jiulang.

Overall, the latter part of the story feels somewhat contrived. If I were Zhang Xiaojing, the emperor would have been gone a long time ago. I appreciate Ma Boyong's different perspectives on history and look forward to his new dramas. It would be even better if they could tone down the moralizing elements a bit.
