The Other Two

Season 1 and 2 are delightful and silly. I was so excited to find this show. Season 3 was icky…the characters were hard to like because they were SO self absorbed.

This show is so much better than it should be. Let me make sense out of that statement. It has more than a few laugh out loud moments per episode. You'd think with the premise it's going to be a series of lazy day-in-the-life side plots, but it actually respects its characters, and their wildly painful blind spots, and puts funny shit in their mouths to say. It plays out hilarious parody scenarios that still feel grounded because it's actually trying to make the joke verses be "extra" or "ironic" in the so often displayed misfires of your other run-of-the-mill Lorne Michaels-must-touch-everything soup of shows. It's interesting to feel like you both do and don't want to root for the characters. That means they're being treated with subtlety and respect. I honestly don't even know how I found this show, but I'm glad I did. It was funny enough to slow down and replay scenes. It's worth your time.
