i dont understand why the rating is low. honestly, this was a great show and i enjoyed it a lot. everything ended satisfying, although not happy.
the characters were compelling, it stayed really interesting all the way through and i really loved the realistic portray of what went down between the whites, mexicans and the comanche. a must watch!

@bouncyeyeball I completely agree! It's so different in such an over-saturated field of TV. It's not only different but well-done.

@bouncyeyeball 73% isn't really a low score.. but it was cancelled. Weirdly I never knew "The Son" existed, except stumbling upon it researching development of the awful "American Rust" (2021) series—starting out with same trio who created "The Son." USA dropped the latter series for lack of interest in casting. Later picked up by Showtime and new creators.

I have to say, Pierce Brosnan is a weird choice for this project, so I don't know if the original creators would have fared better given the chance to have completed "American Rust." It's too bad, because Philipp Meyer, underlying author of the novels to both projects, seems to have created masterpieces of Americana with intriguing plots. Unfortunately the attached creators in both projects (imo) dropped the ball.

"The Son" (2017 is not created by Philippe Meyer. It is created by Philipp Meyer (no 'e' in Philipp), and thus his Trakt page, plus underlying sources are messed up. Philippe Meyer (with an 'e') is a German/French journalist and writer among other things. Further confusing things, the Wikipedia lead to "creator" of "The Son" links to a completely separate Philippe Meyer (also with an'e') who is a Swiss former olympic swimmer, with zero film or media credits.

There is a Trakt (sorta) correct page for Philipp Meyer, crediting him for authorship of the novel, "American Rust" (2021). However the other Philippe Meyer page (with 'e') conflates all the wrong Phillippe(s).

I loved the show ,I hated "Pete" and the actor who played him.Zahn McClarnon and Sydney Lucas steal the show.I thought casting Jacob as the young Eli (Pierce Brosnan's character) was bad ,Jacob does a decent job but hes scrawny and shorter then Pierce. If you like Westerns you'll love the show.I also like that it ended and didn't drag on for 5 seasons .
