[HBO Max] A quirky and entertaining thriller that benefits from a dark comedy tone and some excellent work from Jamie Dornan and Danielle MacDonald. The Australian desert is almost a representation of the memory void of the protagonist, and reflects on the power of the past, which connects him with his antagonist. With a good rhythm, the plot solidly builds a fragmented puzzle to create a thriller that manages to surprise.

The first season wasn't perfect, but it was enjoyable, and should have kept it as a mini-series, but they just had to do "more".

The second season was written and directed by AI, or so it would seem, as no sane person would come up with such nonsensical plot, ridiculous dialogues and more plot holes than a sieve. You will have to do mental acrobatics and suspend your disbelief like you've never done before.

The high rating is sure the work of friends and family of the production team, no doubt about it.

Season 1: 6/10
Season 2: 1/10

Season 1 of the show is brilliant... Season 2, isn't as good as the first one, although it's still watchable... both seasons are intentionally slow-paced, and the setup for Season 3 is intriguing.
The burning file revealing that
Eugene is a secret agent is a nice touch, although it seems a tad contrived.
It could have potentially resolved Helen's doubts and problems about Elliot's past, had they not been that enthusiastic to burn it...
Let's see where this goes from here, or if it goes anywhere at all.

Is it a mystery? Is it a comedy? It's both! and ultimately neither. Started off with potential, but then came the lame jokes, and the poor acting and silly characters. I wanted to like this, being Au and all, but I really cannot recommend.

First four episodes are great, cool atmosphere. A bit like Fargo sometimes Episode 5 explains a lot and is well done how lots of stuff is explained. Last episode concludes the serie with the least "thriller like" episode, but the ending is ok and not open for another season which for me would be a bummer if they made one.

This is a slow roll, so hit play and relax. Imagine, waking up, battered and bruise with no idea who you are, even your name, and your new best (and only) friend in the world is the Probationary Constable sent to write up the car accident report. Follow that with 6 episodes of chases and disturbing discoveries, all the while asking the existential question, “Am I who I was in the past or can I be who I am from this day forth?” Full disclosure, Jamie Dornan and Australia already gave this series a green light for me. I loved the banter, I loved the Australian characters and the Australian Outback in all its glory. I give this series a 7 (slow reveal) out of 10. [Mystery Thriller]

If you love the Coens and you can’t get enough of Fargo, then this is the best thing to watch. Love it so far!

Amazingly kooky! Certainly a worthwhile guilty pleasure. Jamie Dornan always does well.

It sets up a teasing Fargo-esque premise and colourful characters, but can't match the smarts and wit. The show starts filing up time too soon. Also riddled with editing and logical inconsistencies. The pretty lead characters are the dullest and most pointless. More time should have been given to Danielle MacDonald, Ólafur Darti Ólafsson and Damon Herriman.

No idea where episode 5 came from. By far the best but from a whole other series.

**Review: The Tourist (2022)**

___

The Tourist is a gripping mystery, featuring an excellent lead performance from Jamie Dornan and some neat twists. It is a tightly told story, or at least it is initially; unfortunately, the show suffers towards the latter half of the runtime. A compelling first half is followed by an ending that is less than satisfying. The season finale, in particular, is a dreary muddle with a weak premise and overused tropes. In spite of the fact that the show does not end with the same level of brilliance that is expected, it is still a worthwhile and enjoyable watch.

Rating: **7.2/10**
