I preferred this one over the original film. **Much darker and more psychological than the original.** The **bleak and dreary atmosphere** adds to the gravity of the heinous murder committed. The characters were fleshed out and believable as real people in this rendition. Gladly the health issues served a real purpose, instead of it serving as forced attempts at humor like in the original. The twist ending is **less melodramatic and that was a relief**.
