It...

TOO...
TEDIOUS...

WATCH...
SOBER

It took me two time to get through the first episode, due to falling asleep. Everything is excruciatingly slow...
the camera pans, the dialog, character walking, even the coke whore!

It's what I'd expect from a movie made by a postal service, or DMV employee.

Every...
single...
insignificant...
moment...
is...
punctuated...
by...
a...
dramatic...
pause!

I tried. I really tried. But about 10 minutes into the second episode, and I was just getting peeved. I couldn't take another hour and a half of it!

Maybe if someone was doing speed ball, it might work... cocaine to stay awake, and heroin to keep from slitting your own throat!

If you can't fall asleep in your bed, this is the perfect sleeping pill. I've never seen a show so slow. Will I resist until the end of the third episode.

This series is gorgeous visually, but it's also absolutely impossible to follow. People do stuff, then nothing is happening, then something kinda starts to happen, but you're already bored and distracted. I get that slow pacing is Refn's shtick, but the story and the viewer really could have benefited from making all episodes 45 min or so. There's just enough material for that length.

If they would act any slower they would be standing still.
More than once I checked my pc because I thought the image froze.

You know the old saying about "Watching paint dry?". Well unless you actually enjoy watching paint dry... don't waste your time on this series.

This is the masterpiece of long–form TV. It's so rare that it serves as an example what we could have if it wasn't for short attention span and money.
All the haters who "fell asleep": But you still play Death Stranding, made by Refn's friend, Kojima. Is it pretty boring there as well?

I know it's a cliche but really new generation has attention span problem.
When "nothing happens", that gives you space to think and feel. And in real life that's how it happens, did you notice? Someone gets out of the car and walks.. walks.. but you would put on headphones or watch something on the phone while walking. Missing on life.

Fun fact: When the series was packaged for the Cannes Film Festival, it was under the title "North of Hollywood, West of Hell."

I like that title a lot more, in my opinion.

Despite it taking me over months to finish this series, due to its unbelievably slow pace, which left me bored at times. On the other hand, the unique thing about it is that you can watch any episode as a standalone storyline and not get lost. It's why director Nicolas Winding Refn only showed episodes 4 & 5 at Cannes.

Killer soundtrack with a neon vibe to it. I liked the weird little character traits from the characters that made them memorable.

It’s meant for those who are familiar with Refn's work will know what to expect from this.

Too Old to Die Young is the best TV since Twin Peaks: The Return. It's something else: groundbreaking, beautiful, disturbing, adictive, demanding... Overflowing with style and personality and including several unforgettable scenes. I was hipnotized by Nicolas Winding Refn's masterpice. I didn't care so much for the last three episodes but that's probably my fault.

it's a really wonderful show: good photography, awesome script, good acting and music, but: it has too much slow times and pauses. it has an overwhelming excess of it. it taints a pristine show. sadly.

Sad to see Amazon let this one go. This show is an acquired taste for sure but I was hoping they would have shot out a second season. It was great seeing what Ed Brubaker and Nicolas Winding Refn were able to create.

@orange-scuba<br /> I'm fairly certain this wasn't meant to follow the traditional aspect of television. I think Nicolas considered this to be one long movie. There was never going to be a second season.

I loved it, but this is the definition of "not for everyone"

Running for 13 hours across the course of 10 episodes (which range in length from 79 minutes to 23 minutes), Refn regards it as "a 13-hour movie" and insists that it is not a television show (he regards television and streaming as different mediums, and TOTDY aired on Amazon's Prime Video streaming service). Either way, whether show or film, I loved it. The aesthetic is exceptional, the quirks are pure surrealism, the humour is spot on, the violence (particularly the sexual violence) is sudden and barbaric, but never gratuitous or pointless, and the themes are fascinating. This isn't going to turn a single person into a Refn fan. Indeed, it will probably alienate some of his more casual fans, as it tests the limits of what even the most artistically open-minded viewer will watch on their television screens. That said, if you're on-board with it, you're in for an unforgettable ride.
