I don’t get the negativity. Honestly you people are so entitled. The lack of context is intentional and there are several clues as to why it’s that way. It’s not a 50s to show (we haven’t seen them imitate a 60s tv show yet, that’s next week). It’s going to change probably every week, even up to the point of imitating modern tv shows like the office from what they’ve said. And the context is clear enough by the end of the second episode. Even without reading additional articles to explain the more subtle hints, you can tell what’s going on at least loosely. Plus it does a great job lampooning the absurdity of 50s tv and ideals about homemaking and marriage. To hilarious effect

@cbucher1 The problem is not with the lack of context. It's just that the rest of the show is boring. I see what they are going for but the show is just not fun to watch. Maybe it's because I've never watched old American TV so I don't have the nostalgia factor but I feel like there is no stakes or anything interesting going on beyond the "something strange is going on" elements (which are rare).

@gordongessler that’s fair. In that respect I guess it just comes down to taste. I’m a millennial but I have seen enough such TV as a kid thanks to my dad. However I felt they approached it in a way that was as much inspired by old American TV as it was pointing out how ridiculous it was, and therefore hopefully could appeal to a wider (and indeed, younger) audience. I’m glad they’re taking risks with the franchise at this point, as the main cinematic run is over, so time will tell if they manage to pull it off or if we will need to break out the infinity gauntlet and snap WandaVision away.

@cbucher1 They should've stolen/based it on good stuff from Seinfeld/Friends/Simpsons. Instead it feels like if someone took the most boring jokes from "Married with Children". Though IMO they hint that it's not supposed to be actually funny. So ~60 min of bad jokes and a couple seconds of reveals.

(Then again MwC hasn't aged well, or it just never was my kind of humour, and I don't rewatch it.)

@gordongessler that’s a fair critique. I mean it comes down to personal taste. Boring is subjective but I can see the disconnect with people who aren’t even accustomed to the style of old TV in America. I’m interested to see if that changes at all when they get to more modern styles (assuming the stakes are more clearly established and increased then.
