This was a wonderful departure from Sci Fi/Syfy's usual crap offerings with pretty strong writing and wonderful characters. The premise itself is pretty fascinating and presents a interesting what-if for many historical characters. Let's say you'll never quite think of HG Wells quite the same way again after this show. The main characters themselves are pretty interesting, with nice backstories. Pete has the cool dude charm and Myka is frighteningly intelligent. There is an issue with idealisation of characters. Myka verges on a can-do Mary Sue who knows everything, and Pete's premonitory "feelings" remain unexplained. You'll also find out that Claudia and Jinks tend to this as well.

It is a show with a great start, but the sexual tension between the characters has worn out its welcome, and to a lesser extent the camaraderie as well. As the series progresses, the more you realise how forced the chemistry is between Pete and Myka. It doesn't help that they didn't hire the strongest actors to play the lead roles and many of their reactions to new artefacts seem unrealistic. Eddie McClintock's dude-next-door charm begins to get a little cloying as it isn't held up by the strongest characterisation on the writers' side. Myka doesn't get very much character development apart from her initial angst either.

Claudia was a wonderful change-up, but that's given the writers more room to create increasingly ridiculous and far-fetched plots. Seasons 1-2 are worth watching, but season 3 onwards, even with the introduction of Jinks, is not quite worth your time.

Crazy, over-the-top, wacky, funny good times. Love the great and varied characters and how they play off each other. Yes, it's predictable, but so what?

Pete, Pete, you want a cookie? It is written as sort of a running gag, but now that I am old enough where the threat of stranger danger and nondiscript white vans offering candy has passed... I can sort of identify with that.

"Come inside." "No." "I have cookies." "OK."

Anyway, this is just FUN. It's sort of Indiana Jones, sort of Friday the 13th The Series, sort of The Librarian kind of fun. And it is all done with the appropriate not too serious humor behind it.

I mean, the artifacts in the Warehouse are serious enough to drive the story in the realm of the best Sci-Fi, but they are also humorous enough to appeal to all ages.

It is sort of the perfect Science Fiction show for the family. It appeals to kids and adults alike without dumbing things down to the point of being unwatchable like most family friendly fair does these days.

And the cast all seems to have more than their fair share of chemistry with one another and do a great job of playing off each other, especially in the way that family can be irritating and loving at the same time.

It could have been too dark and ominous to appeal to kids. It could have been to light and slaphappy to appeal to adults... instead it balances perfectly between appealing to both parents and children.

It makes me miss when the Sci-Fi channel was making shows that had actual quality in a shared universe. We need that again.
