Why does Disney insist on destroying beloved shows? Even by Disney’s account, this isn’t a story about WILLOW, it’s a story “centered on a queer romance”. So it becomes a virtue signaling agenda based show instead of a fantasy show - and if it has a gay character, whatever, but does it need to be “centered” on that very small portion of the viewing audience? Guess so, according to the shows creator Jonathan Kasdan.

It's not that this queer theme wasn't 150% obvious in the first 5 minutes of the first episode, you just knew when you saw the two girls sword fighting (an interesting metaphor when you think about the slang meaning of that term) on the rocks and see the way in which the redhead was looking at the princess that there was going to be a strong underlying gay theme happening there. Which, fine, I can deal with that if it's not too over the top and not central to a story that isn't about queer folks, but when I read the interview with Kasdan that it's "queer centered" that was all I needed. I watched the rest of the episode and it continued as expected, a queer romance novel, not Willow.

It's irritating that Disney does this bait-and-switch: promise you a story about a fantasy world of wizards and demons only to give you a "reimagined" version where it's a only slightly about the original topic and more focused on the Disney political and social agenda. It almost feels like an attempt at indoctrination, why not make it an entirely new show with a new name and make it all about queer life, then it's spot on and those that are into that kind of show tune in, those that aren't don't.
