The main interest would be that it is a Kazakh movie, so pretty rare, and the cultural aspect, the atmosphere and decors bring all the originality from it. However apart from that it's pretty common. I felt like I already had seen this movie several times.

Dirty cops, covering crimes for corrupt politicians, but they're being watched, things go wrong, people die. Been there, seen that.

It would be interesting to know how much it resembles the real situation there, though. But it's kinda incredible. First, it looks like a total desert, every house looks like they are 10km apart with nothing around to be seen. There seem to be almost no people, and yet, they need to hide murders and suicide suspects a dozen time (for one cop) in two years ??

The pace is pretty slow, with almost no background music, while the movie is over two hours long, leaving a boring impression.

The journalist's character is pretty weird. She seems to have some authorities backup, but also basically doesn't do anything but play with the official suspect, and seems totally oblivious of the obvious danger of her situation. Even though she's the triggering element of the story, it looks like the role has not really been though through apart from her existence.

The main point seems to be the supposed ethics dilemma of the main character, but he only
says fuck it and do something once he knows he's pretty much dead anyway
, so not much depth on this side either.
