Ali leaves behind a troubled life and follows her dreams to Los Angeles, where she lands a job as a cocktail waitress at the Burlesque Lounge, a once-majestic theater that houses an inspired musical revue. Amateurish. Entirely derivative of Fosse with heavy influence of MTV, yet lacking in energy. Despite poor dialogue, lame narrative, and weak dramatic performances all around, it was still somehow enjoyable.

Lights, camera, cabaret time! Okay, so it’s got some incredible vocal performers and a versatile cast...but don’t expect too much storytelling when the curtain is raised. It does however make up for its lack of depth with a sprinkling of innuendo and the odd giggle moment. You’ll leave this club feeling satisfied.

Now this movie was right up my alley. Some drama mixed in with upbeat and funky songs. (with a few Rae solos from Christinanand Cher as well.)

Now the story wasn't all that original and I can see that, you have a girl who really wants to make it and ends up finding a place in which to begin he More
