Connect with your children!
What happens when self-absorbed parents raise an autistic child? Larry.
The editing was so tight in this movie that mundane moments turned into jump scares.

Sorry, i am kinda pissed after watching it. Lol
i get that the kid is autistic but after all the creepy experiences he went through with his friends and all that running away and he just stupidly try to hold his hand after that just pisses me off. I thought he finally spoke a few words that he would actually yell 'NOOOO!' and that would make Larry leave since he was rejected by the kid himself but they had to make his mom join the other side. Overall, i guess it wasn't that bad of an ending but i wished he didn't lose his mom.
Simple, but effective creature feature techno horror. Obviously strongly inspired by *The Babadook*, some might even call it a rip-off but I think it has a lot to offer. It's nothing we haven't seen before but the execution was on point. Larry the Misunderstood Monster is so creepy, amazing look and good effects for him. The app book was effectively creepy. Solid jumpscares. All the kids were great in the movie, especially the main one who absolutely sells the idea that he's autistic. The biggest praise I can give it is the use of technology, it was well-thought out and technology is the perfect medium if you're doing a loneliness entity—solitude and technology go hand in hand! The sleepover scene, the under the bed scene and the whole third act are my favorite moments. Perfect emotional ending. ***Come Play*** is becoming one of my favorites, perfect double feature with *The Babadook*. Would love a sequel, even though it kinda stands on it's own.

I like it a lot! The end was kinda sad to me but at least Sarah bonded with her son like she always wanted.

It's been a while since I've watched a simply enjoyable, non-gore focused, horror flick. This fit the bill perfectly. It's not reinventing the genre or pushing boundaries, but it is executing the established tropes of the genre very well. Creepy monster...misunderstood kid...general message about a problem in society...good scares...solid cast (I'll watch anything Gillian Jacobs is in)...I enjoyed myself.

_He just wants to be your friend._
Jacob Chase has entered my shortlist for upcoming young horror directors. This was masterful. Roque Baños' score is some of his best work, even above his collaborations with Sam Raimi. While the timely message of our screens becoming a substitute for real life companionship, something that _Pulse_ already tackled back in the day, turning the concept in to a creepypasta style horror film works wonders. The jumpscares are organic and inoffensive, the cinematography and use of the creature in his scenes are devilishly stylish, and little Azhy Robertson acted his ass off. The film handles his autism very tastefully, and I can speak to that since I have one brother who is exactly the same as him. It's a scary idea, that while his attachment and use for his devices are a necessity, they could be doing more damage than good beneath the surface; And that we've become overreliant on technology to solve our problems. I don't get what the backlash behind the film is geared at, but I think those are just looking for something to be upset about. The ending is what got me, nearly made my eyes water.

It doesn't hold up all the way to the end - after an effectively scary start it gets a little silly - but there is a lot of imagination on display here so the film manages to hold the attention.

I enjoyed that one! An original horror movie. It is kind of rare these days and the story around the autistic kid and his family kept me entertained throughout the whole movie. Didn't heard of that movie before and it was really a nice surprise! I also felt for all the characters in this - kind of a B Movie but good/solid one.
